My Approach to Therapy

I work from a strength-based, mindful orientation that helps shift perspective from “what is wrong with me” to “what is not wrong.” I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) where it helps, along with contextual CBT approaches like acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness, to support deeper explorations of meaning and purpose. I also use narrative approaches, parts work, and trauma-informed therapy, with a focus on self-compassion and acceptance, building self-confidence, and making behavioral changes that go beyond insight. I approach the work with gentle humor, deep listening, empathy, and many years of practice. I have supervised clinicians, created and directed behavioral health programs around the world, trained clinicians nationally, and supervised clinicians in New York.
