What's My Approach to Therapy?
Alyssa is a clinical social worker with a broad range of experience working with individuals across the lifespan. She is particularly passionate about working with young adults, adults, and older adults. Alyssa specializes in treating thought conditions such as anxiety, panic, and obsessive-compulsive (OCD) with exposure therapy, and treating attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) symptoms through various behavioral interventions. She has a special interest in treating pain and other somatic conditions, using specific interventions to help clients manage and alleviate physical symptoms.
Alyssa's approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based interventions with extensive research backing their success. She is certified and specialized in using exposure therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and unified protocol (UP). She also employs skills and interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and gestalt therapy to facilitate meaningful change in her clients' lives.
Alyssa is deeply motivated by the belief that individuals have the power to heal themselves by reframing negative and unhelpful thought patterns into new thinking patterns that encourage resilience and hope. She aims to normalize all feelings, even the hard ones. She believes that all feelings are meant to be felt, not to be fixed.
Clients can expect a therapeutic environment characterized by compassion, validation, and empathy. Alyssa is committed to meeting clients where they are in their treatment journey and reducing any shame people accumulate through life's hardships and challenges.
