From a heartfelt place, I mirror back each person's beauty and potential. With intention, attention, skill and humor, I facilitate the process that allows each person to become more of her/his authentic self and to manifest that self into the world.

Everyone has different needs, and as such I tune in to sense what clients need throughout the session. My goal is to make you feel comfortable enough to raise any issue at all, whether it be about current or past experiences, or how you are experiencing the therapy session. I use an interpersonal approach, and while I am listening closely, I am also open, responsive, and present, and will be sharing my thoughts, questions, and ideas about what is going on in your life and what I think might be most helpful to you. I use a direct and interactive approach, which I believe helps people to engage more fully in the therapy process. Together, we will clarify problems, gain more insight into how external situations are affecting your mental health, apply strategies to minimize negative behavior patterns, and cope more effectively with difficult emotions such as sadness, anger, or pain. Although I am solution-focused and results-oriented, I also encourage self-reflection so that problems are less likely to recur in the future. At times, this may require confronting past experiences that are surfacing in the present in the form of depression, anxiety, anger, problems with intimacy, or unwanted thoughts or behaviors. In addition to working closely with clients to manage symptoms of depression and anxiety, I help people use psychotherapy to work through difficulties or obstacles they may be facing at different points in their lives, whether this be finding the right career path, resolving ongoing conflicts in relationships, coping with stress or painful experiences such as loss or trauma, or struggling with addiction or other self-destructive behaviors. I also specialize in treating eating issues and distorted body image, as well as problems in work, partner, peer, and family relationships.
Congratulations on your interest in beginning (or revisiting) psychotherapy. I believe psychotherapy and psychoanalysis can be life-changing practices -- and that positive, productive treatment begins with a safe, trusting, confidential, compassionate, and empathic client-therapist alliance. My approach is based in eclectic psychodynamic psychotherapy. This means that we collaborate toward understanding and resolving your concerns not only in the present moment but also with attention to their origin and your future health and happiness. To do this, I integrate numerous modalities, including CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), relational therapy, object relations, intersubjective, Jungian analysis, and Vedic psychology, as is relevant and helpful to you. In short, I will follow your lead and preference about what approaches you find most satisfying and helpful.
I work collaboratively with clients to empower them to identify and move through the issues that stand between them and the lives they hope to lead. I bring a unique approach that blends evidence-based, solution oriented strategies with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) techniques to help clients foster connection, community, and meaning. I operate from a strengths based perspective and prioritize a space of unconditional positive regard, empathy, and respect. I am a first-generation Latina fluent in both Spanish and English. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Hello! My name is Alex Fromosky, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey. I have a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Montclair State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Central Florida. Throughout my time in the field, I have worked individually with clients addressing issues such as substance use and addiction, trauma and posttraumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, and all of the fun stuff in between! Mental health is already intimidating to discuss, and I pride myself on having a direct yet supportive approach when it comes to therapy. I like to bring my authentic self to sessions, and I hope you will, too. I also like to approach some of these harder issues in a fun, caring, and lighter way, so you can feel more comfortable exploring some of the things that have been hiding away for so long. I utilize skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) in sessions, which allows for a well-rounded perspective.
Are you feeling depressed, anxious, or frustrated with yourself? I help individuals understand why they fall into self-defeating patterns and then help them choose more empowering ways of living. It's not always easy for people to learn to like themselves better or to forgive themselves for their mistakes. As a formerly harsh self-critic, I know how to guide people to become happier and freer by using gentle humor and self-compassion to rediscover their fundamental self-worth. I want to help you and your relationships thrive. Has poor communication or betrayal turned your relationship with your loved one into a battlefield? I can teach you to communicate more effectively with each other and to rebuild shattered trust, so that both of you feel heard and respected. I can also help you resolve conflicts that arise from differences in financial, personal, and parenting styles. Do you feel a need to achieve more in your career or other life areas? I can enable you to reach your full potential by discovering new possibilities for growth and step by step strategies to meet your goals. Then, I can show you how to make consistent progress by making changes stick - even in tough times. I invite you to call to see how I can help.
Do you feel like you don’t have a space that is meant for you in this world? “Normal" has never been where you fit in, and that’s fine with you. But you are more than a little tired of holding up the mask you wear and seeming so resilient when you’re really just exhausted. You can improve and grow your relationships. You can absolutely learn new skills and strengthen what’s already there. It might be really fucking difficult, but you’ve gotten this far, haven’t you? All of the resources to be the best you are already there. They’re just waiting to be unlocked. But you don’t have to do it all alone. I can help. Not as some high-and-mighty expert, but as your guide. Because I’ve been there too. I know how hard it is to balance all of your competing needs. I’m Latina, autistic, and an ADHDer. I get it. Change is something that we can always rely on. It will come into our lives whether welcomed or not. Being able to find inner balance and develop resiliency can help a person move through these changes. The start of this journey to establish inner balance, whether triggered due to illness, depression, anxiety, stress, or something else, can begin with outreach for support. I am drawn to the human spirit and I love working with individuals to fulfill their ultimate potential. I work to create a safe environment that allows for exploration and vulnerability, the emergence of awareness, strength, and resiliency. I believe that people need to be seen for who they are, and allowed the space to grow. A tree, no matter how confined, will still reach toward the sun. How do we all reach the sun? I believe we are all individuals, we see and learn differently, but we are all connected. Working together in a therapeutic space we can identify the sun and grow to the very best of our abilities. I was once told that, "there are no superheroes, just super hard tasks that ordinary people get through, manage, and conquer together." That is what we shall strive for together.
