Life can be very challenging, and at times, unbearable. I understand that. Whether you're navigating through a difficult relationship, family crisis or trying to figure out your place in life, I would be honored to walk alongside you. I offer an eclectic approach to counseling that is flexible & dynamic to suit your needs. I have over ten years of experience helping pre-teens, teenage youth & young adults work through economic, academic and psycho-social challenges & adjustments. I also work closely with parents & their children to help navigate through challenging family dynamics. I offer practical skills for couples to improve their relationships & space for the single person to explore. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the phone number or email listed.
Do you feel overwhelmed by your emotions or stuck in patterns you can’t seem to change? Maybe anxiety, stress, or relationship challenges keep showing up in ways that make it hard to move forward. Or perhaps becoming pregnant, adjusting to life after having a baby, or navigating fertility or postpartum changes has brought up emotions you weren’t expecting. I help people learn how to better understand and regulate their emotions so they can respond to life with more clarity and confidence. My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and authentic. I want therapy to be a place where you can be honest about what’s hard while also learning ways to make everyday life feel easier. In our work together, we’ll slow things down and look at the patterns that may be keeping you stuck—while also building practical tools that make a real difference outside of session. Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to navigate things on your own. If you live in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Virginia and are open to telehealth sessions, I’d be happy to connect to talk more, answer any questions you may have, and see if working together feels like the right fit.
What makes a good life? Plenty of money, you may say. Or good health. Professional success. A long-term relationship. Getting to your goal weight. Having a large apartment in your chosen neighborhood. Children. Newsflash: These can be components of a miserable life or a satisfying one! What do I mean by this? A good life starts from the inside! We all know people who are in peak health and are unhappy. And you have probably heard of terminally ill people who are fully enjoying their remaining time. Same with money or lack of it. Same with professional success, long-term relationships, etc. There are people who seem to be doing very well on paper who are miserable, and people who are not doing well by external standards who are a pleasure to be around. What makes the difference is being able to deal with the people and situations in your life today, and to learn to be happy yourself, rather than looking for someone else to make you feel good about yourself or to make you happy. Walking around feeling insecure, depressed, anxious, lacking a sense of purpose, or feeling like you are a burden to your friends, this is not the life you dreamed of having as a child, and it’s not the life you want today. How do you go from here to a satisfying life? Good therapy makes all the difference in the world. Starting therapy is a sign of strength, and that’s something to feel good about. I bring empathy, warmth, curiosity, and the courage to sit with you in your pain, and to help you find a way through. There may be tears, and there will also be some laughter along the way. This is life, after all. I’ve been working with individuals and couples since 1995. My approach is to connect with you, get to know you, relate, and bring a deep understanding of human psychology to our work together, so you can define and create a satisfying life for yourself. Your idea of a satisfying life is unique to you, not a one-size-fits-all life reached by a one-size-fits-all therapy. You don’t have to be perfect to have a good life. The people in your life don’t have to be perfect, nor do your circumstances. Whew! What a relief! Life can be messy and unpredictable, and you can still look for and enjoy the bright spots, and be in love with your life. I’d like to work with you, help you create that life, and help you deal with the things, past and present, that get in the way of your enjoyment. Maybe you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, job stress, illness, difficulty in relationships, substance-use issues, a recent breakup, a move, family pressures, whatever this messy life sends your way. Whether you’re a recent graduate adjusting to life beyond college, the parent of someone “leaving the nest,” or you’re dealing with the death of a loved one, starting a career, or looking at retirement, whatever your challenges are, I’m here to help you face them, learn to handle them in a way you can look back on and feel good about, and learn from the mistakes we all make along the way as humans. We’ll work together to help you find the joy in everyday life!
If you’re here, you’re likely feeling exhausted in a way rest alone doesn’t fix. You may appear high functioning on the outside, keeping up with work, family, and responsibilities, while internally feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, or disconnected from yourself. Many people I work with are navigating chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, trauma responses, or relationship strain and are realizing that “pushing through” is no longer sustainable. I specialize in working with adults who are insightful, capable, and often the ones others rely on, yet feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, emotional overload, people pleasing, or self criticism. My clients are often professionals, caregivers, and high achievers who seek more than just symptom relief. They want clarity, emotional regulation, healthier boundaries, and a deeper sense of alignment in their lives. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I show up as a real person and create a space where you feel safe, understood, and gently challenged. I am not a passive or distant therapist. I listen closely, ask meaningful questions, and help you slow down enough to understand your patterns, emotional responses, and the ways past experiences may still be shaping your present. In our work together, I integrate evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with relational and client centered care. Therapy with me focuses on increasing self awareness, improving emotional regulation, processing unresolved experiences, and developing practical tools you can use in everyday life. We move at a pace that feels supportive while still allowing for meaningful growth. Above all, I believe therapy is not about fixing you. It is about helping you feel safer within yourself, more connected to your needs, and more confident in how you show up in your relationships and life. If you are looking for online therapy to address anxiety, burnout, trauma, or life transitions, I would be honored to support you.
I believe growth is not always comfortable, and difficulty does not automatically mean something is wrong. In therapy, I help clients become curious about the patterns, fears, beliefs, and old roles that may be keeping them stuck. Sometimes the obstacle is not a sign to turn around—it is the place where the deeper work begins. We may explore the boundary you are afraid to set, the grief you have postponed, the truth you have softened, the relationship pattern that keeps repeating, or the part of you that still confuses familiarity with safety. I used to think of transformation as the butterfly—the beautiful ending, the freedom, the moment when everything finally makes sense. But transformation is often the part before that. It is the cocoon. It is the dark, uncomfortable, sometimes messy work of making sense of our fortunes and misfortunes, our desires and doubts, our losses, fears, and old ways of surviving. Real change may ask us to sit with discomfort before we feel relief. To grieve what we are leaving behind before we know what comes next. To question beliefs we have carried for years and recognize that what once protected us may now be limiting us. My approach is collaborative, reflective, and practical. I help clients understand where their patterns came from, what those patterns once protected them from, and whether they are still serving them now. The goal is not to force change or pretend healing is easy. It is to help you move through the uncomfortable places with greater awareness, self-trust, and intention—so you can become the person you are ready to become and build a life based on what you choose, rather than only on what you learned to survive.
I work with clients to create an environment that feels supportive, helpful, and safe. I tailor the therapy experience to each person. Sessions can be whatever you need them to be in that moment. There's no "right" way to do therapy! I treat clients holistically, as I believe that physical, mental, and social health are all connected.
People are unique and have varied life experiences that often are the templates for future interactions with others. Using a variety of interventions, specific to the individual, couple, or family, a collaborative interaction helps one to reach goals. Trained in many theoretical orientations I use what works best for the unique individual. From the difficult to treat child and adolescent, to the adult facing divorce, occupational crisis, or life re-evaluation, our work together is goal oriented.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I help individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds deal with a variety of life challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, career-related stress, relationship issues, and life transitions. In assisting individuals to reach their goals, I utilize a variety of therapy approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-oriented techniques. My style in therapy is goal-oriented, interactive, and supportive. I will be a collaborative and compassionate partner in helping you understand and identify solutions to your challenges. To address your needs, I will meet you where you are right now and help you examine your problems within the context of the multiple factors influencing your life. My goal is to empower individuals so that they get unstuck in making progress with their goals, and learn to uncover the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors that may be holding them back.
Therapy is a journey of self discovery which complements life experiences. It is through active listening and integrated approaches that the past is explored to determine how it relates to the present so that more satisfying life choices can be made. Research has shown that there is a mind body connection and for well being and balance, therapy can be a resource. If you are on the fence about going, " It is easy to do the things that are bad and not beneficial to the self but very very hard to do indeed is that which is beneficial and good." Dhammapada.
