Finding the right therapist can be a very confusing and overwhelming process! On your initial visit, I will spend a generous amount of time with you on your presenting concerns and your goals for therapy. Having 16 years of experience, I can accurately assess the type of therapy that would be most useful for your specific situation. My specialty is Cognitive Behavior Therapy and I find most clients achieve significant progress with this approach. When you work with me, together we'll break down your patterns of thinking and behaviors that cause anxiety, depression, and hold you back from enjoying life. You will develop the skills to feel better and create positive change. Many clients find my style a "very refreshing" change from their former therapy. In couples therapy, I use a highly structured format that enables couples to communicate in a way they never have before. This new way of communication gets right to the core issues. My approach to couples therapy brings resolution to issues much faster than traditional therapy. I am available by phone to discuss any questions or concerns you have before beginning therapy.
Life can be very stressful with the many obligations and demands placed on us. Whether it be at home or work, being overwhelmed seems to be 'the norm' these days. You may feel like you have to do it all or somehow, you're a failure. Maybe you're feeling that having the relationships you want are out of reach; or living the life you always imagined just isn't happening; or feeling alone even when surrounded by people. I chose to be a therapist because I know firsthand that change is possible. You see, it was by reaching out for help that I was able to break the patterns that were preventing me from reaching my goals. I decided I wanted to help others the way I was helped. If you're willing to do the work, you can have the life you long for. You only need to believe it's possible. I do.

Together, we’ll work on building the tools and insights you need to achieve greater mental and emotional well-being. Individual and Couple sessions informed by attachment theory, trauma and when needed sex therapy are provided in my Columbus Circle office. I am certified in EMDR and Board Certified in Neurofeedback and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. These are 2 of the key treatment modalities recommended in the book, BODY KEEPS THE SCORE by Bessel van der Kolk, MD. My orientation to counseling and psychotherapy comes from a combination of traditional psychotherapy and the newer neurobiological approaches that integrate what has been learned about the how the brain and mind work together (or don't). Another important underpinning of my approach to this work is attachment theory. Attachment theory describes how powerful and important the need to be connected to others is for us as human beings. Sometimes during challenging childhoods, we learn ways to adapt to others that become a part of us and we can carry these sometimes counterproductive adaptations into our adulthood. The agenda of our work is set by you. At the end of our first session, I will ask whether the relationship seems workable for you. If it is, we will schedule another session. You set your goals for our work together and I give my recommendations for how to address the concerns that you have raised. Together we decide how to proceed with the work together.

I am currently accepting clients in NYC & New Jersey. If you have been thinking about speaking with a therapist, chances are that it’s time. Talking to a stranger about the most intimate details of your life can be an intimidating feat to overcome, and being vulnerable can be scary. That is why it's my goal to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable exploring and processing your thoughts and emotions. I recognize the importance of developing a genuine connection that feels like a ‘natural fit,’ and aim to make you feel unconditionally accepted and supported. My specialty is helping young adults and adolescents that suffer from anxiety, depression, and trauma. Much of my success has come from helping clients with transitions, relationship issues, and work-related stress. I only utilize evidence-based treatments that are clinically proven to promote mental wellness. Through increased insight and self-awareness, I help clients lead authentic, fulfilling lives that improve relationships with themselves and others.
People create meaningful change when they feel truly heard and validated. What I love most about being a therapist is having the privilege to be part of that journey—helping clients shift their perspective, face challenges, and reconnect with their sense of worth and potential so they can build a life aligned with their values. While I specialize in anxiety, panic disorders, and OCD, my work also spans a range of other areas, including support for creative professionals and those in the entertainment industry; men’s issues; sex and porn addiction; trauma; body and muscle dysmorphia; and LGBTQIA+ concerns. My foundation is in behavioral therapy, but I take an eclectic, integrative approach that draws on my specialties and certifications in CBT, ACT, ERP, and EMDR. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your concerns, and I tailor our work to meet you exactly where you are in this moment of your life. Feel free to contact me or visit my website if you’d like to learn more and find out my latest availability. We can discuss what brings you to therapy and work out a plan to get you on the path toward leading a more fulfilling life. At present, in-person spaces are currently filled. Only telehealth spaces at present.
You are taking an important step in healing and growth that will enable you to make more positive choices moving forward. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, grief or loss, having relationship difficulties, demonstrating communication problems or just feeling "stuck," contact me at Three Steps Forward to discuss how counseling can help you. My mission is to provide a counseling experience that is comfortable, soothing and empowering. Each session is tailored to your particular needs. Together, we will clarify what you hope to gain from this experience overall. I understand that counseling may be the first opportunity for you to feel truly heard and understood. I will listen to what you say in session, as well as what you don't say, and I'll be mirroring that back to you. I can help you move past the depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. We will work together to challenge the maladaptive stories and unhealthy messages you've been carrying around with you to develop a healthier, more encouraging script that will spur you to move forward, make conscious choices, and note your progress throughout. I favor an active approach to therapy and employ many cognitive-behavioral techniques as well as an incredibly impactful tool called Rapid Transformational Therapy which incorporates Hypnosis.
