About Hoboken

Hoboken is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey. It is situated along the Hudson River and has a population of 55,000 people. The city of Hoboken was incorporated in 1855. 

Hoboken is widely regarded as a city of firsts. For example, the first brewery in the United States was built there in 1642. The first organized baseball game was played there in 1846. It is also the home of New Jersey’s first Sikh mayor.

The ethnic composition of Hoboken is 72% white, 15% Hispanic, 9% Asian, and 2% black. Around 16% of residents were born in another country, and 21% speak a foreign language at home. There are roughly 4,300 Spanish speakers and 1,000 Chinese speakers in the city.

Mental Health in Hoboken

Since 2015, Hudson County has provided Crisis Intervention Training to police officers and  mental health professionals.
