In these uncertain times, I offer a safe place for clients to explore their fears and concerns related to Covid-19. I provide Telehealth services as a way of supporting those who are struggling to adjust to this new way of life. Further, I work with doctors, nurses and health care personnel who are adjusting to changes not only in their home and personal life, but also with the changing standards of healthcare. My compassionate approach to therapy allows clients to find comfort in an honest therapeutic relationship, in order to achieve their personal goals for healing. I work to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment that promotes an individual's personal strengths and innate ability to resolve his or her own life struggles. I am particularly interested in the dynamics of families and the impact they have on an individual's relationships and schemas. My intention is to gain an understanding of clients' patterns of behaviors and use my training and intuition to guide treatment and establish therapeutic goals. My interest in nutrition influences my understanding of mental health, as I recognize the importance of physical health and its effects on one's thoughts and emotions. I have studied the gut-brain connection extensively and believe that achieving balance in one's microbiome (or "gut bacteria") can lead to tremendous improvements in overall emotional and mental wellness. It is not uncommon for clients with "treatment resistant" depression and anxiety to begin to experience symptom relief when taking this approach. I work with my clients to help educate them on the gut-brain connection, and direct them to resources that can help guide them on their path to healing. Additionally, I am formally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and use my knowledge of DBT to provide practical life skills to my clients in the areas of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. This type of therapy helps people to navigate the often messy world of emotions, and normalize the emotional conflicts that arise in everyday life. My intention in my work is to help clients to build insight into their patterns of behavior, heal their physical bodies, and provide them with DBT skills that will improve their ability to navigate life's challenges. I invite you to call me directly to see how I may be able to help you to reach your own personal goals.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida. I am also a U.S. Army veteran and single mother of two. I understand firsthand, as a human, how stress, anxiety, and depression related to unresolved trauma and current life stressors can impact our daily lives emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually, and in the way we are able to love ourselves and show up for others. It is my honor to help you regain the renewed peace, wholeness, and joy for your life that you deserve, both in the present and moving into the future. I practice from a person-centered approach, with you as the expert in your life’s journey and me as your guide. Using clinical interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, attachment-based theory, and Jungian theory, I will assist you in identifying, exploring, and processing negative, repeated patterns and behaviors. We will work to understand what triggers them and how they impact your life, and then I will offer ways for you to heal, cope, and manage them so the patterns are no longer repeated and new pathways for peace are established.

With compassion and understanding, I help individuals find resolution to a wide range of personal concerns and psychological issues. With an integration of complimentary approaches, I draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques, including life coaching, to incorporate what is most helpful for each individual. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my clients individual needs to help them attain the personal growth they're striving for. Together with each client, I work to develop strengths, restore peace, and achieve life goals. People often ask me, "Why did you get into counseling?" The answer is simple. Growing up, I was often the person among my friends and family whom people would share their secrets and talk about their problems. I was always fascinated by hearing how people felt about what was going on in their lives. And at the end of our talks, people would frequently say to me, "Wow, I feel so much better after talking to you. Thank you so much." I eventually came to realize that I had a gift of listening effectively to other people and offering support. I did this by listening intently to what the person was saying, trying to put myself in their shoes, and asking myself, "What would be most helpful for this person right now?" and responding accordingly. Fortunately, I was able to turn this gift into a successful career. I received my bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and my Masters degree in counseling from Clemson University. I then got licensed as a mental health counselor in the state of Florida (LMHC) and later earned a National Certified Counselor designation (NCC). Then in the spring of 2020, I achieved the Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional certificate (CCATP) to further assist those struggling with anxiety & panic. During my career, I have been fortunate to work for both for-profit companies as well as non-profit organizations in mental health and other industries. Because of this diversified background, I offer a unique perspective of the "business world" which many of my clients find helpful. I would be honored to work with you and assist you with your life challenges. As with all of my clients, I would strive to help you feel empowered, to improve your life, and to help you find peace. I invite you to stop struggling and start enjoying what life has to offer again. It is my sincere hope that you will find the same peace that many before you have found. "Restoring peace of mind ~ one person at a time."
