My communication style is compassionate, laid back, and provides a non-judgmental environment.
Although I use my clinical background to effect change, I believe that therapy should be a relaxed, open conversation between two individuals. You will find that I am very approachable, and productive conversation comes naturally. We form a therapeutic team and work together to work towards healing and change.
I work with couples and individuals, and specialize in relationship issues, coping with medical illnesses, grief and loss, health behavior and lifestyle changes, life stress and transitions (including marriage, separation and divorce, infertility, work stress, life stage concerns, etc), anxiety, depression, and ADHD. A supportive and non-judgmental relationship is crucial to any effective individual or couples therapy. In creating a safe place to explore and understand where you might feel stuck, I help you learn new ways to communicate and interact in relationships, cope with life stresses and losses, deal with difficult emotions, and shift behaviors and patterns that may no longer work in your life. I view each person or couple holistically, and provide individualized interventions integrating approaches that are supported by research in order to help you gain insights, learn new communication and coping skills, and ultimately make lasting changes in your life. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and have advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMT), as well extensive training in health psychology, behavioral medicine, bereavement counseling, child and pediatric psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness based approaches, such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and insight meditation. I have also worked and published in the areas of women's health and ADHD.

In therapy, you get to talk about whatever is on your mind. It’s a freeing experience. You can be you, unfiltered. I’ll ask you questions. We’ll find some options.
Your struggles are unique and complex. As a psychologist my aim is to help you explore your personal narratives, to understand how your past is affecting your present and keeping you from fulfilling your values. Whether you are experiencing difficulty with relationships, life events, healing from trauma, or simply don't find yourself enjoying your life as you once did, I will help you feel grounded while we gain a non-judgmental perspective on your struggles and put our minds together to strategize ways forward. I specialize in treatments for trauma, depression, anxiety, job stress, and relationship issues. I take a pragmatic and eclectic approach by integrating psychodynamic theories with evidence-based tools. I draw on treatments ranging from CBT, ACT, and CPT, tailoring treatment to your unique needs and experiences. I completed advanced training at Haverford College and the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Hospital where I continue to work as a trauma specialist. My 25+ years of experience has taught me the importance of making the time to listen and understand before I start making suggestions. This involves understanding each person's life story, administering assessment tools, reviewing relevant records, and interviewing other people that my client and I agree should be involved. I believe strongly in evaluating strengths as well as pain, with my feedback emphasizing the former. I also believe in letting my clients know about what research-based treatments are available to them so that we can collaborate in experiencing transformative change ASAP. I believe in setting life-altering goals before beginning, and checking on progress as we go. My intention is to promote healing, wellness, and happiness as thoroughly and as effectively as possible. With child and teen clients, I use a variety of methods to make each person comfortable (e.g., I use magic to connect with kids and teens, referring to myself as a wizard).
Therapy is more than talking about what’s wrong, it’s about understanding what you’ve been through, learning how to manage what you’re feeling, and developing the tools to create meaningful change. My approach integrates DBT, somatic-based therapy, EMDR techniques, and CBT to help you address the connection between your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships. If you struggle with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma, negative self-talk, difficulty setting boundaries, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, therapy can help you move forward. Through DBT, we work on practical skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and healthier communication so you can respond to difficult situations instead of feeling controlled by your emotions. Through CBT, we identify the negative and unhelpful thought patterns that may contribute to anxiety, self-doubt, shame, or feeling stuck. You’ll learn how to challenge those thoughts and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. With somatic-based therapy, we pay attention to how stress and past experiences show up in your body. Together, we work toward greater awareness, grounding, nervous-system regulation, and a stronger sense of safety within yourself. Using EMDR-informed techniques, we can gently address distressing experiences and emotional triggers while building coping resources and helping you develop a greater sense of control and emotional safety. You deserve a space where you can be understood, not judged. Therapy can help you move from simply surviving to creating a life that feels more balanced, connected, and fulfilling.
Dr. Morgan treats individuals, couples, families, and children. Dr. Morgan currently provides clinical supervision to Marriage and Family Counselors. He enjoys working with clients who have a broad spectrum of relationship problems. He believes that meaningful change comes from deep within; it is not something that can be imposed by the therapist, nor are you expected to do it alone.
I think the most important part of being a good therapist is genuinely caring about the well-being of the people I work with. I am an empathic therapist, and work to create a warm and welcoming environment for those I see in therapy. This sets a foundation that enables us to talk about what brings you to therapy, whether it be hopes, struggles, fears, conflicts, etc. Together, we will explore your concerns and wishes, and uncover what is standing between what life is like now and what you want it to be. I will help you recognize and understand the barriers that keep you from feeling the way you want to feel, and work with you to break through those barriers, which can result in greater satisfaction in relationships, work, and day-to-day life. I also provide support and guidance for those experiencing life transitions, such as marriage, children, loss, divorce, and those new to the city who are having trouble adjusting. I think that it is important to recognize that, although we all have limitations, we also have strengths and resources. I have a flexible approach to therapy, and have been trained in a number of different modalities that allow me to cater to your specific needs.
You may be holding everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck. Or maybe you look like you have everything together on the outside while inside you're feeling uncertain, disconnected, anxious, emotionally drained, or caught in a cycle. You don't have to wait until things become unbearable to ask for help. I provide compassionate, practical therapy for those navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and life's challenges. I work collaboratively with each client to understand their individual experiences and goals. I want to support you as you navigate the current problem, and together we'll also work toward greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, healthier patterns of thinking, and practical skills you can continue using long after our sessions end. I also provide diagnostic evaluations for attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) and learning disabilities. Feel free to send me an email to share a little about what you're experiencing and what you're hoping to work on.
Change is the only constant in life, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is easy! Pain is an indicator that something isn't working and it is time for change. Like most things worthwhile, change requires hard work. Guiding you through the process of change is my lifework. Whatever your struggle, I'm here to work through it with you --you are not alone! The purpose of psychotherapy is to help you improve your life by making meaningful changes. A good therapist should, first and foremost, be able to help you reduce the immediate distress that has pushed you to look for treatment. Once that initial relief is accomplished, the way is then cleared to focus on the bigger-picture of your life: your beliefs and feelings about yourself and others, your interpersonal style, the usual ways in which you protect yourself from getting hurt, the influence of your childhood experiences, and many other factors, including highlighting and using your hard-won strengths, all with the aim of bringing about changes that lead to lasting improvements in quality of life.
Women deserve spaces where they feel emotionally safe enough to become fully themselves. I provide virtual psychotherapy for women seeking support for sexual trauma recovery, PTSD, C-PTSD, depression, anxiety, identity concerns, and life transitions. Whether this is your first experience with therapy or one step in a longer healing journey, I am honored to walk alongside you. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where women feel seen, heard, respected, valued, and supported as they move toward healing and authenticity. Through trauma-informed, affirming psychotherapy, I strive to create an environment where women can reconnect with themselves, reclaim their voices, strengthen self-trust, and move toward lives that feel more authentic, meaningful, and emotionally free. You are welcome here. Healing is not about becoming someone different. It is about coming home to yourself.
