Find a Therapist in Coronado, CA

I work with individuals or couples who feel lost, stuck, anxious, or just in emotional turmoil. The issues my clients are facing show up as affairs, career confusion, patterns of bad relationships, loss of emotional connection with their partner, substance abuse, or loss of passion or engagement. I also support people through life transitions that are positive but challenging, like adjusting to college, a new marriage, a new baby, or launching those grown babies. Along with joy and pride, people may feel anxiety, uncertainty, and loss of their former identity. I provide support and guidance to couples in all stages of their relationships as well as individual adults in all life phases, from young adulthood through the senior years. I facilitate their unique process of self-exploration as they work to achieve their goals and dreams for themselves and their relationships. Through developing self-understanding, effective coping skills, and fulfilling relationships, those goals and dreams can become reality. I work from a place of empathy, connection, and understanding. Together, we find the threads of connection and meaning in the stories and feelings they share, helping them to create the life and relationships they want. To create this change, we talk about their concerns, feelings, needs, strengths, and vulnerabilities.

I use solution-focused therapy to build on all clients’ strengths with empathy and, occasionally, humor. I connect with youth through their favorite media and pop culture to develop creative solutions for personal and interpersonal success. Dr. Taitz can collaborate with schools, coaches, and doctors to find the best, integrated approach for you and yours. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-i; the gold standard for insomnia treatment), imagery rehearsal therapy (empirically proven for nightmare reduction), and lucid dreaming therapy (a new treatment using your awareness of being in a dream). As improved sleep helps physical and mental health, we will work together to find the best sleep skills for you.

Imagine waking up and realizing anxiety is no longer controlling your day. The constant worry has quieted. The emotional pain feels lighter. The memories that once triggered overwhelming fear no longer have the same hold on you. Imagine feeling more confident in your relationships, more connected to yourself, and finally experiencing a sense of peace you’ve been searching for. If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, you may feel exhausted from carrying the weight of it all on your own. Perhaps you’ve spent years trying to push through the pain, wondering why things haven’t gotten better despite your best efforts. You don’t have to keep facing these struggles alone. I believe healing is possible, and my goal is to help you move from surviving to truly thriving. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can openly share your experiences, process difficult emotions, and begin creating the life you want for yourself. As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Spanish, I’m passionate about helping people from diverse backgrounds feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey. Whether you’re struggling with the effects of childhood trauma, navigating a difficult life transition, coping with loss, managing anxiety, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen and heard. Together, we’ll identify your goals, uncover the underlying factors contributing to your distress, and develop practical tools to help you create meaningful, lasting change. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness practices, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)-informed interventions, to help you process difficult experiences, strengthen resilience, and build healthier ways of coping. My focus is not only on helping you reduce symptoms, but also on helping you understand yourself more deeply and create lasting emotional wellness. In our work together, you can expect compassion, authenticity, encouragement, and a therapist who truly cares about your growth and healing. No matter how overwhelming things may feel right now, change is possible. You deserve support, healing, and the opportunity to build a life that feels more peaceful, fulfilling, and aligned with who you want to be. I would be honored to be part of that journey with you.

Whether your concern is job stress, a relationship in crisis, or a mental health issue, you deserve quality care from a seasoned professional. My experience ranges from psychiatric hospitals and outpatient treatment centers, to independent practice. I am trained in a variety of scientifically validated treatment approaches, and I always treat you with compassion and respect. Listening carefully to your description of your situation, we'll collaborate on a plan for change and recovery. I take a pragmatic approach, teaching you along the way, so that you fully understand what we are doing. Sometimes I'll recommend some reading, to speed up the process of change and healing. Or I may give you homework assignments so that the time between sessions is productive. You will find that I am active in the process, not merely nodding my head. If you are suffering debilitating symptoms, I may suggest we get some medication from your doctor to make the process easier. But I recommend medications only as a last resort, and more often suggest a range of non-pharmaceutical interventions that have been shown in research to be effective. Nutrition, exercise, sleep schedules, mindful awareness, as well as a variety of supplements all can offer benefits. If we are working in a couples counseling frame, I'll help you get reconnected without worry as to "who is to blame". Whether the conflict is over money, in-laws, sexual intimacy, or the kids, know that these issues are all opportunities for growth and happiness. Disruptions in our primary relationship are perfectly normal, and not to be a source of guilt. If your concern is substance abuse or addictive behavior, know that there is no reason for shame here. It's all a matter of getting educated on the nature of the problem, and learning about how to make the change. We'll build a treatment plan that allows you to find your best self, and come back to being that wonderful person you were meant to be. Feel free to come in for a single session just to see what you think. Let's get to work!

With life comes pain and frustration, but learning how to cope is what aides in long-term happiness. I am here to help you achieve your short and long-term goals with your career, relationshipsfamily, and personal growth. Additionally, in over close to a decade of working in the field, I have found that addictions of all kind are prevalent no matter who you are or where you come from. Often overlooked is that depression andor anxiety are the source of addiction. Understanding ourselves and working on what parts of ourselves hinder our progress in life is essential in creating and maintaining change. Helping individuals and building meaningful relationships is my ultimate passion in life.

I work with individuals and couples who are trying to make sense of complicated relationships, difficult life transitions, and patterns that keep repeating no matter how much insight they already have. A large part of my practice focuses on couples’ work, helping partners navigate conflict, rebuild trust after infidelity, improve intimacy, and break out of the same exhausting cycles that leave both people feeling misunderstood or disconnected. My approach is straightforward, collaborative, and tailored to the person(s) sitting in front of me. I draw from narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy, which means we look at the stories, patterns, and dynamics shaping your life while also focusing on practical, realistic changes. With couples, I often integrate emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help partners better understand emotional reactions, attachment patterns, protective behaviors, and the deeper needs underneath conflict. I have experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, grief, sexual trauma, sexual dysfunction, relationship conflicts, intimacy concerns, addiction, domestic violence, and complicated family dynamics. I also work with older adults navigating aging, caregiving stress, loss, identity shifts, and the emotional challenges that can come with later stages of life. A lot of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and still stuck. Some feel overwhelmed, disconnected, ashamed, angry, lonely, or unsure how things got this far off track. Others are carrying experiences they’ve never fully talked about out loud. Therapy with me is a space where you can be honest without feeling judged, overanalyzed, or pushed toward someone else’s agenda. I’m direct, engaged, and practical. I’m not going to sit quietly while you go in circles for 50 minutes. We’ll talk about what’s actually happening, what’s keeping you stuck, and what meaningful change could look like in real life, not just in theory.
