What's My Approach to Therapy?
My approach to healing in counseling is rooted in creating a safe, supportive, and authentic therapeutic relationship where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I believe meaningful change begins when individuals feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment. I strive to foster an environment of trust, empathy, and collaboration so clients can openly reflect on their challenges, strengths, and goals. By meeting clients where they are and honoring their unique experiences, I aim to empower them to develop deeper self-understanding and a stronger sense of agency in their healing process.
I take an integrative approach to therapy and often incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy. Through CBT, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and develop healthier ways of thinking that support emotional well-being. I also draw from DBT to teach practical skills related to emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness, helping clients build tools they can use in their everyday lives. In addition, I incorporate psychodynamic principles to explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns may influence present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This deeper exploration can help clients gain insight into themselves and create lasting change.
Ultimately, I view healing as a gradual and individualized journey rather than a quick fix. My role as a counselor is to walk alongside clients as they discover their own capacity for growth, resilience, and self-compassion. By combining insight-oriented exploration with practical coping strategies, I aim to support clients in strengthening their sense of identity, developing healthier relationships with themselves and others, and moving toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
