What's My Approach to Therapy?

I’m Travis, and welcome to Elevation Mental Health Inc. With more than 18 years of experience in talk and behavior therapy, I’m dedicated to providing counseling that is thoughtfully tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I believe the effectiveness of therapy depends largely on the connection between counselor and client. Without a strong therapeutic relationship, meaningful growth can be difficult to achieve. For this reason, creating a safe, supportive, and balanced environment is central to my approach. My goal is to provide compassionate, judgment-free counseling that combines evidence-based interventions with a genuine and supportive therapeutic relationship.

My Practice & Services

My therapeutic framework is grounded in Behavior Therapy (BT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches are supported by decades of scientific research, and I am committed to using only proven, evidence-based treatment methods in my work. I am also a trained clinical supervisor in clinical mental health counseling and provide professional supervision to counselors and mental health trainees. In this role, I support developing clinicians as they strengthen their clinical skills, ethical decision-making, and therapeutic effectiveness. My supervision approach emphasizes evidence-based practice, thoughtful case conceptualization, and the development of a strong therapeutic relationship with clients.

My Therapy Focus

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, with additional graduate-level coursework at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where my academic focus was behavioral medicine. During this time, I frequently worked with individuals facing the challenges of acute and chronic illness, as well as those seeking to make meaningful, health-promoting behavior changes. I later completed my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Missouri St. Louis, where my training emphasized providing counseling services to underserved communities. To further specialize in behavioral treatment approaches, I pursued post-graduate training in Applied Behavior Analysis at the University of Cincinnati. My work there focused on supporting individuals experiencing behavioral challenges and anxiety disorders, helping them develop practical strategies to improve daily functioning and overall well-being.
