What's My Approach to Therapy?
Trauma-informed and humanistic: Develops a strong, safe therapeutic relationship to help people understand how past experiences, including cultural and systemic trauma, impact them.
Focus on authentic self: A core goal is helping people find and recover their authentic selves.
Relational and somatic: Uses reflective, relational therapy, combining top-down analysis with somatic (body) and emotional experiences.
My Practice & Services
Owners of Watch Hill Therapy, Jennifer Rolnick, PsyD, and Tovah Means, LMFT, wanted to provide a values-based, beyond trauma-informed group specialty practice that could meet the actual needs of those looking to heal from complex trauma.
In 2012, Tovah founded Watch Hill Therapy out of a desire to start working with people who have experienced complex trauma. Not wanting to do this work alone, Jennifer and Tovah became co-owners of Watch Hill Therapy in 2018 and have been providing trauma specialty-focused care to clients since then. They also began training and mentoring therapists working at the practice, to ensure quality clinical services to people healing from trauma.
Now, Jennifer and Tovah also reach the broader Chicago therapist community to support therapists with complex trauma cases through individual and group consultation. In addition, Jennifer and Tovah teach and host workshops through Watch Hill Therapy on complex trauma therapy, somatic treatments, dissociative process, and self-as-therapist issues.
