My Approach to Therapy

My approach to working with you will always be personalized, compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental. With over 26 years of experience in the helping profession, I’ve had the privilege of working with many people while also enduring life’s challenges. I’ve had to apply the skills I teach, practice the resilience I encourage, and believe in the brighter days that lie ahead. My approach is realistic, grounded, and infused with humor, compassion, and practical solutions to real-life problems. In the first session, we'll focus mainly on your history and what led you to therapy. From there, the work begins. I believe in jumping right in, rather than wasting time on small talk. So, we will decide on the approach, and start working toward healing. The goal is for you to begin noticing some change within four sessions, even if it's slight, and to keep seeing progress as we go.

My Practice & Services

Peaceful Foundations Wellness Center is a relatively new practice. I have been a therapist for over 26 years, but I only decided to venture out on my own a few months ago. There is still growth happening. The foundation is established, and I'm prepared to provide you with quality therapy services. However, there may be minor adjustments from time to time, usually for the better. So, keep an eye out for those. Come grow with us!

Groups I Work With

I see individual clients aged 18 and older, but I have made exceptions to see younger children. This is considered on a case-by-case basis and generally depends on the child's needs. I also meet with couples who are dating, cohabiting, engaged, married, or at other stages of the relationship continuum. I will accept families for therapy, but all family members must be at least 12 years old. Parents will be required to sign consent forms for all underage children involved. Clients who tend to succeed most with me are those who are ready for change, willing to give and receive feedback, and understand that therapy is effective only when everyone is engaged. Most of the "work" of therapy happens between sessions, and clients who are willing to do readings or other activities outside of our meetings typically do well. My approach to the relational side of therapy is more relaxed and friendly, while still maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Anyone who doesn't mind a laugh during a session or a non-traditional way of learning a concept will probably find greater success with me.
