My Approach to Therapy

I view every individual, family, and couple as unique, and as such, I utilize methods and techniques best suited for each situation. I approach my work using a client-centered, strengths-based model. My scope of practice has included many areas, all pertaining to individuals, couples, and families. Most of my experience and passion involves working with women, teens, and the LGBTQIA community. I am also interested in, and currently work with, individuals and couples around sexuality and intimacy. I was trained in family systems therapy at Seattle Pacific University, which means I approach my therapy work holistically, focusing on the individual and extending beyond that to the interactions between family members and significant others. I work with clients to help them recognize how extended family, culture, and society may impact them as individuals.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

A particular area I am passionate about and have experience working with are areas that involve issues related to sexual health, healing and intimacy. I am currently in the process of attaining my credential as a certified sex-therapist. In my experience, this is an area that is often overlooked and not addressed, both in therapy and in life generally. Whether sexsexuality is the focus, or you are just looking for more intimacy in your relationship(s), I work to provide a safe space for promoting understanding of human sexuality and healthy sexual behavior, and where issues around sexual intimacy and function can be openly discussed. I believe the more we can talk about sex, a very natural and human experience, the less the topic will be stigmatized, therefore positively impacting the quality of our lives, relationships, and society's beliefs about sexsexuality.
