My Approach to Helping
I am a therapist and coach in private practice in Lawrenceville in Pittsburgh, PA, offering services to couples, individuals, and families. I help clients nurture compassion - both for themselves and for others - by confronting feelings of shame, fear, and powerlessness. I specialize in addiction, sexuality, fear, loss and grief, spirituality, shame, and self-hatred.
Shame is a universal emotion that can take many forms. Sometimes it leads to codependency, judging, blaming, addiction, and perfectionistic behavior. Shame tells you there's something wrong with you, that you're just not good enough, and/or that you do not matter. Shame lies.
I help my clients manage a wide range of behavioral and emotional challenges. I offer therapy for grief counseling and depression, as well as couples counseling, parenting support, and much more. I offer a personally-tailored approach to my clients' needs in a supportive and comfortable environment. With healing, more loving choices become possible.
When I work with couples, my goal is to work myself out of a job. I adopt a compassionate approach for both partners, helping them to move beyond the blaming/shaming conversations to which they've grown accustomed. Couples come to couples counseling to speak to each other in a different way, or to say goodbye. No matter what your circumstances are, feel free to reach out so we can explore how best to work together.
My group work has been paused while I work on my book about life and love.
