My Approach to Therapy

I help clients reconnect with their authentic selves. Together, we will identify and explore what is blocking you from living fully as the creative person you are. Past trauma, societal expectations, family dysfunction, and other harmful systems and “norms” may have caused you shame and disconnection from your true self and values, resulting in people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, and other painful patterns that are no longer serving you. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I’m very interested in who you are outside of these patterns, and I want to create space and possibility for who you are becoming.

My Practice & Services

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), a Board-Certified Music Therapist, a professional musician, and the founder of Creative Life. As long as I can remember, I have been driven to create. Art and music have always shaped me, and helped me process and transform my experiences. As a highly sensitive, undiagnosed neurodivergent person with complex trauma, the studio became a safe haven, and the stage a blank canvas. Music gave me structure and safety, but also somewhere to feel deeply and express myself freely, unbound by expectations, anxiety, and self-doubt. Without asking me to change, it met me where I was and somehow took me somewhere completely new. I think good therapy can offer something similar: somewhere you can feel grounded enough to explore, question, experiment, and express. It can be a supportive space to get curious about what’s shaped you, and to inhabit the possibility that things don’t always have to be the way they’ve been. Wherever you may be, I’d be honored to meet you there, with experience, skill, and genuine care for you and this next chapter of your life.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Somatic therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that includes the body and nervous system as part of our emotional experience rather than working primarily through thoughts and words. Somatic therapy can be especially helpful when experiences seem to live somewhere beyond what you can simply reason yourself out of. That might include complex trauma and CPTSD, childhood or developmental trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, dissociation or shutdown, people-pleasing, difficulty with boundaries, relationship patterns, grief or burnout.

Groups I Work With

My approach is integrative, relational, and strengths-based, bringing together insight and understanding with ways of working directly with emotion, memory, relationships, and the body. Alongside what hurts or feels stuck, I’m interested in the strengths, values, creativity, and capacities you already bring with you, and what may already be working, even when it’s hard to see. I integrate somatic therapy, internal family systems (IFS) and parts work, attachment-focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, and relational and psychodynamic therapy. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, I help clients reconnect with their authentic selves. Together, we will identify and explore what is blocking you from living fully as the creative person you are. Past trauma, societal expectations, family dysfunction, and other harmful systems and “norms” may have caused shame and disconnection from your true self and values, resulting in people-pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, and other painful patterns that are no longer serving you. I’m very interested in who you are outside of these patterns, and in creating space and possibility for who you are becoming. I feel lucky to work with highly sensitive people, artists, and creatives, and I have worked extensively with artists, musicians, filmmakers, burnt-out millennials, neurodivergent people, LGBTQ+ individuals, teens, and adults. I show up as a real, authentic human, and as a grounded, passionate advocate for the idea that therapy is an act of resistance. Navigating collective trauma, political injustice, career and family stress, and relationships, while trying to stay sane and make your art without selling your soul, is hard, and it does not need to be done alone. My practice is anti-oppressive, identity-affirming, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. Please contact me for a free consult so we can connect.
