Let’s think outside the box: empowerment with new tools and insights for lasting change. I’m Scott Stern, a supervising psychotherapist and project contractor with extensive experience. I’ve worked with government (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), New York City hospitals, nonprofits, and the private sector. I’m a resource in books and articles about addiction treatment (abstinence, alcohol moderation, harm reduction). I’ve treated adults, adolescents, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
I integrate state-of-the-art, evidence based treatments with empowerment tools. The more self-empowered we become, the better able we are to explore new paths to desired outcomes and self-discovery.
My clinical expertise includes treatment for addictive challenges, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), depression, and posttraumatic stress (PTSD). I work well with clients who are seeking new insights to support personal growth and wellness. In practice, I lean into person-centered, client-driven therapy.
My Practice & Services
I support people who are dealing with addiction and substance use, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive challenges (OCD), trauma, and posttraumatic stress (PTSD). I also work with relationship concerns, including couples, and I welcome LGBTQ+ clients.
Whether you’re thinking about abstinence, moderation, or just trying to make sense of your relationship with alcohol, I’m here to help. I also support clients who are feeling overwhelmed by stress and want steadier ways to cope.
