My Approach to Helping

My name is Sarah and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) located in the West University area of Houston, Texas.

I help people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also work with individuals who feel stuck or who want to learn more about themselves.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered and integrates techniques from a variety of evidence-based modalities. I believe healing comes from within, and that all people have the ability to improve their well-being. My role as your counselor and therapist is to provide the professional guidance you need to access your inner resources and engage more fully with the world. For more information on my expertise and approach, please visit my website.

More Info About My Practice

I offer a free in-office consultation where we can meet, discuss your reasons for seeking counseling, and outline effective ways I may be able to help. I'm also happy to answer any questions you may have via phone or email.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

I think that sometimes people delay coming to therapy because they don't know what to expect or they question whether they can really be helped by the therapeutic process. I understand that uncertainty and doubt. It comes from a real place.

I enjoy working with the skeptics. Come in for a consultation and check things out. I am always happy to offer referrals to my trusted colleagues when I'm not the right fit for a client.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

From my perspective, the term 'disorder' is problematic. The implication of someone being diagnosed with a mental health 'disorder' is that the person is dealing with things (whatever those things may be) abnormally. I have always found that people's responses or ways of dealing are perfectly normal and reasonable given their circumstances. People find creative ways to survive and get through but can get stuck in responses.
