What's My Approach to Therapy?
My name is Sarah and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) located in the Heights area of Houston, Texas.
I help people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or dissociation. I also work with people who are experiencing infertility, and people who feel stuck or who want to learn more about themselves.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered. I believe healing comes from within, and that all people have the ability to improve their well-being. My role as your counselor and therapist is to provide the professional guidance you need to access your inner resources and engage more fully with the world. My Practice & Services
I offer a free consultation, in-office or via video, where we can meet, discuss your reasons for seeking counseling, and discuss how I may be able to help. Please feel free to reach out via text so that I can answer any questions you may have.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
I think that sometimes people delay coming to therapy because they don't know what to expect or they question whether they can really be helped by the therapeutic process. I understand that uncertainty and doubt. It comes from a real place.
I enjoy working with the skeptics. Come in for a consultation and check things out. I am always happy to offer referrals to my trusted colleagues when I'm not the right fit for a client.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
From my perspective, the term 'disorder' is problematic. The implication of someone being diagnosed with a mental health 'disorder' is that the person is dealing with things (whatever those things may be) abnormally. I have always found that people's responses or ways of dealing are perfectly normal and reasonable given their circumstances. People find creative ways to survive and get through but can get stuck in responses.
