My Approach to Therapy

Maybe you know the patterns keeping them stuck, yet trying to change on your own has reached it's emotional limit. Maybe you're experiencing ROCD, anxiety, or disconnection, longing to be fully seen by your partner, family or coworkers. Maybe you're exhausted by the mental loops. Asking for help takes courage. You are not alone. Together, we will look beyond repeated patterns to make sense of what has felt shameful or too much for others. I will help you listen for and grow you're deeper inner knowing and strengths so that lasting change develops, leading to greater self-esteem, purpose, and authentic relationships. I bring a collaborative spirit, straightforward communication, and at times, humor. Successful therapy is often a meaningful and even joyful experience, despite the intense doubts or distress you may be feeling. If something here speaks to you, then the next step is a free no-pressure 20-minute call. I'd be glad to connect with you.

My Practice & Services

Many clients come to me with issues relating to early life attachment ruptures that continue to impact their relationships and sense of self, often leading to anxiety, depression and OCD. My published research explores the connections between disorganized attachment and relational patterns that lead to Relationship OCD (ROCD) and Co-Dependency. In addition to seeing individuals and couples, I offer an online ROCD focused therapy group on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. This group offers a supportive and safe space to explore Relationship OCD loops while developing a different relationship to uncertainty. Alongside attention to the obsessive-compulsive cycles, we'll unearth the emotional and relational experiences that become activated within intimate relationships—including fears of loss, vulnerability, dependence, separation, and uncertainty. As we grow in developing a greater capacity to remain present with uncertainty, recognize compulsive patterns, we move toward relationships with greater freedom and authenticity. This is an ongoing process group which incorporates relational psychodynamic and attachment perspective for integrative healing.

Relationship OCD (ROCD) and how I can help

ROCD can be particularly agonizing as the mind may feel like a relentless storm of doubts, constantly analyzing feelings, choices, and the people you love most. It is common to feel deeply misunderstood or to believe that your thoughts are out of your control and working against you. In our sessions, we will look beyond the surface loops to explore what intrusive fears and doubts may be trying to express, protect, and communicate. In a safe and non judgmental space, we'll gently explore the hidden loops, fears, obsessive doubts and unearthed desires to understand what they are trying to express, protect, or communicate. From here, flexibility and emotional freedom grows.

Groups I Work With

Many clients come to me after experiencing attachment ruptures in their family of origin and struggle with the impact these have on their relationships with others and themselves. We may focus the first few sessions on exploring the roots of feeling undeserving or attending to current areas where you feel stuck in work or relationships.
