I am a psychodynamic (https:www.helpguide.orgmental-healthtreatmentpsychodynamic-therapy) and relational therapist who helps adults explore how past experiences and relationship patterns have shaped present feelings and choices. In a warm and attuned space we will uncover unconscious beliefs, process emotions, and practice new ways of relating. If you are ready for thoughtful and deep work that aims to create lasting change, I welcome you to reach out.
My Practice & Services
My couples therapy sessions are a space to practice a new way of being together. By gaining a deeper understanding of your past, current, and future selves, you can transition from a place of "trouble" to a life of shared meaning and mutual support.
In my work with couples, I combine the Gottman Method and PACT to help partners build a "secure-functioning" relationship. This means moving beyond simple compromise and toward a partnership based on true mutual support and protection.
By taking special notice of what is being spokenand the underlying physiological cuesI help you understand how your past influences your current dynamic. This self-awareness allows you to make well-thought-out decisions, turning your relationship into a place of healing rather than a source of stress.
While much of our work focuses on strengthening the bond, I also recognize that a healthy relationship is a choice made by two people. If our work shows your paths are diverging, I provide a supportive space to process endings, clarify next steps, and leave with greater understanding and integrity.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Looking for and finding a therapist with availability can be challenging, especially when you are struggling. Below I have provided some guiding factors you could keep in mind as you try to find a good fit. It is always going to be a leap of faith, but answers to these questions should give you some grounding information to make an informed decision.
*Do they have experience working with the issues that bring you to therapy?
*How do they work- talk therapy, skills-based (CBT), deep relational, trauma work- pick what feels right.
*Do you click? Feeling heard and comfortable matters more than fancy credentials.
* How do they work with and address culture, background, gender, sexuality, and beliefs
*Legit training: licensed and trained is non-negotiable
*Practical stuff: hours, location or tele-health, session length
*Money: cost, sliding scale, insurance claims- make sure it works for you
*Availability: Does it match with your worklife commitments
*Time Commitment: short-term help vs. longer, deeper work- pick someone who offers what you want
**Tip: have a quick call or consult - it may help save time and money on your search
It often takes a few sessions to really determine whether your therapist is someone you want to keep working with. Any professional should be open to discussing how things are going and support you in next steps.
