What's My Approach to Therapy?
If you’ve held back from therapy because you fear being misunderstood, you’re not alone. I’m dedicated to creating a safe, empathetic space where you can openly share your story, challenges, and hopes—and see tangible, measurable progress. Whether you’re looking for rapid, goal‑oriented change or prefer a slower, reflective pace, my 15 years of experience equip me to guide you confidently toward the outcomes you deserve.
I work with adults, couples, and adolescents, bringing extensive experience in anxiety, depression, and neurodivergence. Using psychodynamic, relational, client‑centered, and narrative approaches, I help you uncover hidden patterns while emphasizing your strengths and fostering observable change.
Therapy should be accessible, so I offer evening appointments, and I am in‑network with most major insurers. If this feels like the right fit, schedule a complimentary 15‑minute consultation, and let’s see how we can move forward together.
My Practice & Services
Choosing Salam Therapy feels like finding a trusted partner who really gets you. Our team brings more than four decades of combined experience, from trauma‑informed work and couples counseling to teen therapy and family support, and we approach everything with genuine compassion and respect for each person’s cultural background.
We’re proud to offer therapy in several languages: Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, and French, so you can talk in the language that feels most natural. Our services cover Indiana and Kentucky, and we work with individuals, couples, and teens (10 years old and up), coordinating with schools, doctors, and other supports to keep care seamless and holistic.
Because we accept both commercial insurance and Medicaid, getting quality mental‑health help doesn’t have to break the bank. All sessions happen through a secure video platform, and we’re flexible with scheduling (early mornings, evenings, or weekends) to fit around your life. Every interaction follows strict ethical guidelines, so your privacy, consent, and cultural needs are always front‑and‑center.
Our mission is simple: authentic, compassionate, experienced care for every client, every session, every time. If you’re looking for a therapist who truly listens, respects who you are, and brings solid expertise to each meeting, Salam Therapy is here to help you build confidence, strengthen relationships, and move toward lasting well‑being.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
When we first meet, the most helpful thing we can know is a clear picture of what's bringing you into therapy right now-your main concerns, how they show up in your daily life, and what you hope to change. We also need to understand the broader context: any recent stressors or life events, the patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and the relationships that matter most to you. Learning about your medical history, past therapy experiences (what worked or didn't), cultural background, and any spiritual or religious considerations helps us tailor our work to fit who you are. Finally, hearing about your goals-whether you're seeking relief from specific symptoms, better coping skills, stronger connections, or a deeper sense of purpose-gives us a roadmap so we can focus our sessions on what matters most to you from day one. Don't know where to start? We can help you. Call or text for a free consult!
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
We're sorry if you've had a disappointing therapy experience. It can feel disheartening when you're looking for help and don't feel heard or understood. At Salam Therapy we take a different approach: we prioritize truly listening to you, honoring your cultural background, language, and personal story, and we never try to fit you into a preset box. Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed care and use collaborative, strengths-based methods, so you'll be an active partner in setting goals and shaping the treatment plan. We also offer flexible options including secure video sessions and multilingual support to make therapy feel safe, accessible, and tailored specifically to your needs. If you're ready to try a compassionate, person-centered space where your voice matters, we'd welcome the opportunity to work with you.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
At Salam Therapy we view mental health diagnoses as useful signposts, not as the whole story of a person. Our mission is to empower each individual with the support, skills, and guidance needed to live a balanced, fulfilling, and emotionally healthy life, and we strive to avoid putting people into rigid boxes. Instead, we focus on the whole person their strengths, relationships, culture, and goals while acknowledging that a label can help us understand patterns and plan treatment without defining who they are. In practice we blend this person-centered philosophy with evidence-based which encourage clients to label intense emotions in the moment; naming the feeling activates the rational brain and reduces its intensity, giving people a concrete way to manage anxiety, anger, or fear without letting a diagnosis dominate their identity. While we recognize the clinical utility of diagnostic language, we also emphasize that disorders are only one piece of a complex, resilient human experience.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Therapy is a personal journey, and the length of time it takes varies from client to client. While lasting change often requires consistent work over the medium to long-term, many people notice a meaningful reduction in their most pressing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or relationship stress within the first few months of regular sessions. We aim to create a supportive, steady pace that respects your goals and life circumstances, helping you build new skills and insights early on while laying the groundwork for deeper, lasting transformation as therapy continues.
What Makes up a Problem?
A problem in therapy isn't just a single symptom or event it's the whole picture of how a difficulty shows up in your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. When something feels stuck whether it's chronic anxiety, recurring conflict with a partner, a sense of emptiness, or difficulty coping after a loss it usually involves a mix of underlying beliefs, past experiences, current stressors, and the ways you've learned to respond. Therapy helps you untangle those layers, identify the patterns that keep the issue alive, and develop new, healthier ways of thinking and acting. By looking at the full context of what's happening inside and around you, we can work together to turn a vague problem into clear, manageable targets for lasting change.
