My Approach to Therapy

You've probably already done some work on yourself. Maybe years of it. You can see your patterns clearly, you know where they came from, and you can even predict them before they happen. But somehow that hasn't been enough. The old response still shows up anyway. That's often where people find me. Not at the start of figuring things out, but stuck a little further down the road, frustrated that understanding something hasn't actually changed it. I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, and relationship patterns that seem to repeat despite their best efforts. My approach draws on somatic therapy, EMDR, narrative work, and attachment theory. I've found that meaningful change often involves more than understanding our experiences. It also means paying attention to what happens in the body, how we respond in relationships, and the stories we've inherited about who we're supposed to be. None of this requires having the right words ready when you walk in. We'll find them as we go.

My Practice & Services

A virtual therapy group for adults who are accustomed to managing responsibilities and meeting expectations but find themselves exhausted, overwhelmed, or struggling to slow down. What We Carry: Family, Culture, and the Stories We Inherit An educational workshop exploring how family and cultural experiences influence the beliefs, roles, and expectations we carry into adulthood. I also bring more than 20 years of experience in engineering, technology, and business to my work with professionals, entrepreneurs, and people navigating demanding careers or significant life transitions. I provide online therapy to clients located throughout California and Utah. My practice is private-pay, and I can provide superbills for clients seeking potential out-of-network reimbursement. I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation so we can talk about what brings you to therapy, answer questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

You might be wondering whether therapy is really necessary. Maybe things aren't terrible. You're functioning, managing your responsibilities, and getting through most days. Or perhaps you've been thinking about therapy for a while but aren't sure what you'd even talk about. Sometimes the hesitation is practical. Therapy takes time, money, and energy. Sometimes it's more personal. You may be accustomed to figuring things out on your own, or you might wonder what someone else could tell you that you haven't already considered. I don't think everyone needs therapy, and I don't believe you have to be in crisis to benefit from it. Sometimes it's simply worth having a place to examine the things you've learned to live with, the questions you keep returning to, or the parts of your life that don't feel quite right, even when everything looks fine from the outside. If you're curious but uncertain, we can start with a brief conversation. There's no obligation to continue. You can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide whether this feels like the right time and the right fit.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Not every therapy experience is a good fit. Sometimes you leave feeling misunderstood, rushed, or as though the conversation never quite reached what mattered most. Other times, therapy may have helped you through a difficult period, but you eventually reached a point where talking about things wasn't creating the changes you hoped for. I don't assume that a previous experience tells us what therapy will be like this time. I'm interested in understanding what worked, what didn't, and what you might need differently. I also believe you should be able to tell me when something isn't helping, when I've misunderstood you, or when we're moving too quickly. Those conversations matter. Therapy is a relationship, and part of our work is making room for honesty, disagreement, and repair. You don't have to start over or dismiss the work you've already done. We can build on what you've learned while exploring what might still need attention.

Groups I Work With

I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, and relational patterns. I support people who understand their patterns but still feel defined by them, often after prior therapy. I offer culturally responsive care for BIPOC, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), Filipinx, and LGBTQIA+ individuals in California.
