Psychotherapy should be affordable, effective, and confidential. I am an active therapist using results focused insight-oriented, analytic, and cognitive approaches in a confidential private practice setting. I also offer video sessions. I listen carefully and closely to help you gain understanding of your behavior and emotions, and give you individual guidance and support to achieve the changes you came in for. In over 30 years of practice as a psychologist it's become very clear that people coming in want to get relief from the first session on. It has also become clear that in most cases, for results to last, there must be some insight, some connection made to the bigger picture of a person's life. Regardless of the emotional distress or patterns needing change, it is always possible to discover the foundational dynamics based in life experience that contribute to the symptoms. This allows initial improvement to continue, and it often results in the person not only solving the problem, but becoming more self aware and psychologically mature as a result of the therapy experience.

More Info About My Practice

I offer the full variety of APA approved and validated therapeutic techniques, based on the intervention that is best suited to the person and the problem. As a Preferred Provider for most insurances I have a wide-ranging sliding scale for fees, and guarantee complete confidentiality within the boundaries of Colorado statutes in a discreet private practice setting.
My stand alone private office is in the restored Oxford Hotel Annex office building. I provide free convenient parking in the hub of Lodo. I practice both short-term and ongoing psychotherapy depending on the person's needs. Decades of experience and an analytic approach have helped me listen intensively and act quickly to help people coming to see me. Taking into account all identifiable influences on emotion and behavior are critical, from current life stressors to medical conditions, to trauma and personal family history.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Trauma is often the root of many emotional and behavioral problems. Sometimes trauma is clear and dramatic, often it is subtle and occurs over time through significant relationships. I have learned to help people identify the trauma, and its effects, and discover methods to decontaminate its influence on their lives.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy has one purpose, and that is to help people find any and all healthy methods possible to get relief from their own personal emotional struggle, regardless of how large or small, current or past, painful or numbing. I see everyone's request for help as equal, whether it is a need to survive a horrible trauma, or to gain self-awareness and grow into the best person they can be.
