My Approach to Therapy

As a therapist, I recognize that having a judgment-free space to process healing and change is vital to the therapeutic process. Rica Puazo is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Registered Art Therapist (RAT) with more than four years of experience working in residential treatment facilities and inpatient acute care with children, adolescents, young adults, college students, young professionals, adults, and older adults. She has experience working with people diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD), bipolar and other mood-related challenges, schizophrenia, conduct-related challenges, depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), trauma, substance use, intellectual disability, autism spectrum, and neurocognitive challenges such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Rica also has experience working with families, couples, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people with disabilities.

My Practice & Services

She received her master’s degree in counseling and art therapy from Adler School of Professional Psychology, and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Baylor University. Rica is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Rica’s approach to therapy involves adapting different theories, applying appropriate interventions, and finding the right tools and support for each client’s therapeutic goals. As an art therapist, Rica encourages exploring the art process to help individuals visualize inner struggles, as well as support self-expression. Rica believes in building confidence in yourself as you work to overcome and accept personal struggles. Work with her to start building self-confidence, happiness, and healthier relationships.
