My Approach to Helping
Personal discovery and growth is one of life's greatest challenges but also provides one of life's greatest rewards. As a therapist, my job is to help you navigate this journey. I specialize in integrated, holistic personal and psychological healing. Through my own healing journey to address childhood trauma, I did many years traditional talk therapy. While I found this to be helpful, it wasn’t until I discovered somatic experiencing therapy that I began to experience a deep settling in my body and mind in a relatively short period of time. I experienced changes that seemed difficult or impossible prior and felt more connected with people around me. I've seen in myself and my clients an ability to change reactions and patterns that seemed unchangeable before incorporating somatic work. Feelings, thoughts, or memories that seemed intolerable become tolerable. This settling of the nervous system can lead to a newfound sense of feeling present and engaged in life. One gains more capacity to experience positive emotions, tolerate negative emotions without becoming overwhelmed, and an ability to understand and manage reactions to people or situations.
