My Approach to Therapy

Are you going through a painful loss, a major life transition, or a chronic illness? If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, you don't have to navigate this alone. I'm Mimi, a licensed Mental Health Counselor (MHC) with over 15 years of experience helping adults and older adults find relief, inner strength, and clarity. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, grief and loss, and life transitions. Using a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic (body-based) therapy, mindfulness, and expressive arts therapy, I help you access self-awareness, regulate your nervous system, and build resilience. If traditional talk therapy has ever felt limiting, my expressive arts approach offers a creative, nonverbal path to healing that many clients find transformative. I also offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions outdoors in Cambridge, as movement can help you open up and process emotions more freely. My style is warm, interactive, and collaborative. Taking the first step toward healing takes real courage, and I don't take that lightly. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can explore whether we're a good fit. Reach out by phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your goals!

My Practice & Services

I offer therapy sessions in-person and via telehealth. I see clients during weekday daytime hours. In our therapy sessions, I hold space for you to discover your own resilience, your inner ability to heal and grow. You will have the opportunity to engage with your mental health in an integrative way that aligns with your values, including the option to explore spiritual themes in therapy, as well as your identity and life goals. In addition to talking through what’s on your mind, you will have the option to utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to strengthen coping skills, facilitate behavior change, reframe thoughts, understand emotions, and develop body awareness. We will use therapeutic tools and coping skills to empower you with your unique strengths in your mental health journey. Additional specialties: Expressive therapy: Explore your creativity When emotions feel too big or too tangled for words alone, expressive arts therapy offers another way in. Through creative modalities like art-making, music, movement, poetry, or drama, you can access and process feelings that might otherwise stay stuck. I tailor these approaches to what resonates with you, with no artistic experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Walking therapy: Movement, mindfulness, and nature Walk-and-talk therapy gives us the chance to have our session outdoors in nature while engaging the mind and body. The physical and psychological benefits of walk-and-talk therapy can enhance the therapeutic process. Gentle walking can strengthen the mind-body connection and stimulate the release of endorphins, which can naturally improve mood and energy levels. Being outdoors in a natural environment adds another layer of therapeutic value by promoting reflection, creativity, and mindfulness. Walking therapy could be helpful if you: - Prefer in-person sessions and movement outdoors rather than a traditional office setting - Appreciate experiential or body-oriented approaches - Connect with nature as a therapeutic environment for exploring your journey Where is walking therapy located? We will meet at a park in Cambridge, MA (weather permitting) that has a walking trail. The location will be provided upon scheduling a walk-and-talk session. I’m happy to walk in all types of weather, as long as walking conditions are safe. If inclement weather or other logistical changes come up, telehealth would be the alternate plan.
