What's My Approach to Therapy?

I am a true Georgia peach, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I have the training and experience but during sessions, you will never feel as if you are being judged or analyzed. I believe we are all human and we can't ignore that the main key to being human is empathy. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Troy University and Master of Science in Marriage Family Counseling Therapy from Capella University. I incorporate solution-focused, person-centered, and CBT approaches when working with clients, providing a holistic perspective of mind, body, and spirit. My ideal client is one who is open and willing to answer those tough, honest, and thought-provoking questions in order to foster personal growth. My communication style is candid and genuine. I pride myself on authenticity. I was finishing my program in Human Resources and took a few psychology courses. It was while taking those courses that I learned how much I loved the field. So it was at that point I decided to pursue a career in counseling therapy. I chose marriage family counseling therapy because the training focuses more on the system (environment, work, family, etc) rather than only on the individual or the individual being the problem. This is why I approach what is going on by looking at all factors of life that could be playing a role in decreasing your quality of life. My goal for clients is to be able to find peace of mind no matter the circumstances. That comes with a lot of mindfulness and acceptance. During our first session, I will share a little history about myself then we will discuss your history along with collaborating on goals you hope to reach through therapy.
