What's My Approach to Therapy?
It can be a courageous step to explore the parts of ourselves that we've kept hidden. I'm passionate about working with individuals as they explore their identity, grief, and heal from emotionally immature parental figures or loved ones, navigate addiction, process trauma, or understand their sexuality. My aim is to help you get to the heart of what's holding you back, so you can truly feel comfortable and grounded in your own body. I am sex positive and welcoming of all sexualities, identities, and kinks.
Creating a safe and trusting space is paramount in our work together. Therapy is similar to a garden—you cannot rush flowers to bloom. I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel completely at ease expressing yourself. You'll find a nonjudgmental atmosphere here, built on patience, curiosity, and an emphasis on self-compassion.
My therapeutic approach is deeply compassion-focused, integrating powerful modalities such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), psychodynamic and attachment theory, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). This allows us to work collaboratively to help you cultivate a greater sense of agency, control, and personal power. I proudly identify as a queer, anti-oppressive therapist, and am affirming of all identities. My style is compassionate, direct, and honest. I'm not a blank slate therapist; I value incorporating humor and empowerment into our sessions!
