What's My Approach to Therapy?
Are you an adult still carrying the weight of childhood trauma? Maybe you startle awake at night, haunted by memories you can't shake, or find yourself stuck in patterns that affect your relationships. Perhaps you're navigating racial discrimination, gender-based harassment, or identity-related trauma that others don't fully understand. You're not alone—and there is hope for healing.
As a Black woman therapist with 19 years of experience, I provide a secure sanctuary where adults can break free from complex trauma. Using evidence-based approaches like EMDR (I'm EMDRIA-certified) and Internal Family Systems (Level 1 trained), combined with a feminist, anti-racist lens, I help you process painful memories, calm your nervous system, and rebuild a sense of safety. I understand that trauma doesn't happen in a vacuum—and I specialize in addressing the unique impacts of childhood, racial, and gender-based trauma
What makes my approach unique is the genuine connection I build with each client. At Mosaic Bloom Counseling, you'll find a space where you feel truly safe, seen, and affirmed. Together, we'll move at your pace, transforming fragmented experiences into a meaningful whole that honors your strength and resilience.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I work primarily with adults healing from trauma, especially those who experienced trauma in childhood and are navigating its impact on their adult relationships, self-worth, and sense of safety. I also focus on women navigating anxiety and life transitions, and LGBTQ+ individuals seeking truly affirming care. I'm passionate about supporting people of color processing racial trauma, and clients who have felt misunderstood in previous therapy experiences. My approach honors how systemic oppression impacts mental health while celebrating each person's full identity.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Therapy can help you develop a deeper, more compassionate relationship with yourself. Often trauma causes us to disconnect from or reject parts of who we are - maybe the part that feels angry, the part that's scared, or the part that carries shame. We'll help you get to know these different parts of yourself and understand what they're trying to protect.
Instead of fighting against difficult emotions or trying to push them away, you'll learn to listen to what each part needs and bring them into harmony. This isn't about eliminating parts of you, but about creating internal space where all aspects of who you are can coexist peacefully.
Many clients discover that the parts they've been trying to silence actually hold important wisdom and strength. When trauma fragments us, therapy helps weave those pieces back together - not by erasing what happened, but by helping you become a compassionate leader to all parts of yourself.
The result is feeling more integrated, authentic, and at peace with the fullness of who you are.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
As a feminist therapist, I believe that the your relationship with me is the most important factor in the overall success of therapy. My hope is that through time, we can build a trusting connection where you have a sense of safety, as well as feel my respect for you. I also trust that you will know in your gut what makes for the most supportive therapeutic relationship for you, and I hope that you trust that instinct.
I believe therapy works best as a true partnership where I take an active, engaged role in our work together. The therapeutic relationship is foundational to healing, so I bring my whole, authentic self into our sessions and invite you to do the same. I'm transparent about how my identity as a Black, able-bodied, straight, cisgender woman shapes my worldview and therapeutic approach, because I believe genuine connection happens when we acknowledge how our lived experiences inform our work together.
