What's My Approach to Therapy?
I am a licensed psychotherapist and hypnotherapist with over fifteen years of experience, and I am not a passive or one size fits all therapist. I work actively, collaboratively, and with heart. Therapy with me is a real relationship within clear ethical and legal boundaries, but it is also warm, creative, and focused on meaningful change.
My style is more like a give and take than a script. I don’t come in with a rigid agenda for you, and I don’t believe therapy should feel sterile or performative. I listen deeply, engage honestly, and meet people where they are. The work unfolds in response to what is actually happening in your life, your body, and your nervous system. It often feels more like a collaboration than a clinical procedure.
I care deeply about progress. Therapy is usually 50 minutes a week. Real change happens in the many hours outside of session. I help clients think about what they are practicing, noticing, and shifting in daily life so therapy becomes something they are actively living, not just talking about. I am not interested in endless therapy without movement. I want real shifts.
I work well with people who are brand new to therapy and with people who have been in therapy for years and are ready for something more engaged or effective. Many of my clients are thoughtful, sensitive, intelligent people who function well on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck internally. Others come to me during periods of grief, illness, relationship transitions, identity changes, or when life simply becomes heavier than expected.
Hypnotherapy is an important part of my work. When appropriate, I integrate hypnosis and other mind-body tools to help clients access deeper insight, regulation, and change. Hypnosis is collaborative and empowering, not something done to you. It can be especially helpful for anxiety, habits, pain, trauma recovery, confidence, and nervous system support.
I also have extensive experience supporting clients navigating medical issues, chronic pain, surgery preparation and recovery, and health-related stress. This work informs my pacing, compassion, and respect for how deeply connected the mind and body are.
My office environment is intentionally non-medical, comfortable, and human. Clients often describe feeling truly seen, understood, and supported, while also being gently and sometimes directly challenged. I am straightforward and honest. If you are ready to do real work, I am all in with you.
If it is not the right fit, I am always happy to help refer you to someone who may be.
