My Approach to Helping
Therapy means different things to different people. For some, therapy offers a journey of self-awareness, growth, and health. For others, it's a necessary prerequisite to survival. Some clients are forced into therapy, but others are excited about beginning the process.
No matter where you fall on the continuum or why you're seeking therapy, I'm here to help you through the process. Therapy helps you explore where you are, where you're going, and what you wish to explore. I accompany you on your journey to guide you, help you maintain focus, support you, and offer a push when you need it.
More Info About My Practice
I graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, with a master's degree. I've completed training with adults, couples, children, families, and groups. I have experience with issues such as substance abuse treatment for teens and adults, physical abuse, family relationship dynamics, supervised, therapeutic family visits, and couples dynamics and coparenting.
In addition to my clinical work, I bring my corporate experience to my practice. I've worked with a Fortune 500 biotech company for 16 years, where I've excelled at individual contribution and management. This experience helps me understand the demands of life/work balances, obstacles of a demanding professional life, and the challenges of leading teams.
My fee is $100 per 50 minute session for Individual and $130 per 50 minute session for Couples or Coparenting. I accept cash, check and PayPal. Sliding scale is available. I do not accept insurance, however I provide a statement per month that can be submitted to your insurance for some reimbursement. This statement can also be held until the end of the year to file as medical expenses not covered by insurance and be a tax write off.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I am able to listen to all of my clients and take some of what they need to leave in my office. You can vent to me, problem solve, cry, scream, and let out all that is on your mind. It is your time, and the part I like the most is being able to be there for each of you. It may be a time of need, it may be a time of sorting things out, it may be a hopeless place, no matter what it is, I am there for each of you. I can walk away each night knowing that I was there for each of you. I will walk away knowing that I provided support, empathy, guidance, an ear to hear all that you are dealing with. Some sessions may end with knowing you got a lot off of your chest, some sessions will end putting the pieces together, and some sessions may end solving a long time problem. Knowing I could play a small part in your journey is what I appreciate the most about this line of work.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Sometimes realizing that we need help is the hardest part of all. It's hard to admit to ourselves that we can't do it all on our own, yet this may be the first step to feeling better. We are all hesitant about change and taking steps in our lives. It is common to feel this way, even therapists feel this way at times. I am here to help you with this transition and determine if it is the right step for you.
