In counseling a foundational part of the work is that you feel you can trust that the person you are working with is able to support you with what you are coming in for, for you to feel connected to your therapist, as well as enjoy sitting with them. My hope in providing counseling is to offer that warm, connected, and safe space to think about what is coming up for you.

My style as a counselor is to let you talk about whatever feels relevant and that you'd like to discuss. Our lives are filled with much material to think about, some of which include our family & friends, work, health, interests and passions. In different moments we may face adversity in any one of these areas that generates difficult to intolerable feelings. In counseling you get to process these different areas and together we can notice the dynamics that are present, the feelings that come up around them, and how you've learned to cope. By making space to consider your relationships (and thoughts and feelings around them as well), I've found that individuals can establish more choice & voice in areas where they may previously have felt stuck or trapped, find healing, as well as develop more gratifying relationships. It is so meaningful for me to get to work with the individuals I do. Thank you!

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

There are many different types of therapy, and the duration and frequency can vary depending on who you are meeting with. As a practitioner who values doing more foundational work of who you are as an individual and how you'd like to be in your life, I tend to work more long term with individuals around the issues that they are coming in with for support. Generally, sessions are scheduled once a week at 55 minute increments, however they can be longer or me frequent depending on your situation. Though I do think of counseling as more long term, I also value your choice to begin and end counseling whenever you would like or feel our work is done.
