What's My Approach to Therapy?
I provide individual therapy emphasizing strengths-based, client-centered, and trauma informed approaches for diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. I generally practice from a relational lens and integrate evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused brief therapy, and internal family systems (IFS). I also like to incorporate community resources and collaborate with natural supports.
My Role as a Therapist
As a trained clinical social worker, my role is to partner with you along your healing journey. Since research shows that the most important aspect of therapy that improves outcomes is the relationship I use a relational approach and integrate other therapy models and skills that might help you. What makes clinical social work different from other mental health professions is we focus on community and systemic barriers that might be exasperating mental illnesses. Therefore, aside from the work I do with you in session I also spend time advocating for systemic changes like housing affordability. I also help you identify ways that capitalism, racism, and ableism might be limiting your potential.
