My Approach to Therapy
My passion is working with individuals of all ages who are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck in some way in their relationships, in their own personal development, from previous trauma, or in their life goals, who are ready to gain insight into themselves and make some kind of change to improve their life satisfaction!
I love helping my clients gain insight into the patterns that lead to feeling stuck and stressed, and helping them find new ways to manage their lives that lead to increased confidence and self-esteem, more calmness in their thoughts, and a clearer path forward.
Many people come to me when they realize they are taking on too much, are feeling irritable, experiencing stress in their relationship with loved ones, realize they are repeating old patterns, not feeling good enough, or having difficulty "turning off their brain." This is when a light goes on, and they seek out help. If that is the case for you, please reach out to me or a therapist you connect with for some support!
In therapy, I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space to explore and gain insight into your life story and experiences. Together, we move forward in taking steps towards change, healing, or a healthier lifestyle to decrease mental suffering and increase calmness.
I have a large repertoire of new tools and skills to manage anxiety or stress, decrease self-criticism, improve self-esteem, increase self-confidence, set healthy boundaries, or learn new ways to communicate, which I share with all of my clients!
My Practice & Services
My name is Laure Saint Georges Chaumet, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and Nevada. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, self esteem, childhood emotional neglect, and relationship issues. Since graduating from my master's program in 2013, I have spent the last 8 years practicing in California and Nevada, working closely with adults, families, teenagers, and children. I have extensive experience working with families to improve functioning at home.
In addition, I have worked closely with individuals and families who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, grief, anger, stress, panic attacks, low motivation, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
Having moved from France when I was 7 years old, I have experienced being submerged in an unfamiliar culture, and I enjoy working with diverse families and individuals. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with clients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and value, above all else, using a nonjudgmental and compassionate approach to every individual I meet.
I take a solution-based approach to helping my clients achieve their mental health goals, tailoring treatment to fit the needs of each individual. I use techniques from evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, family systems therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, and trauma-focused therapy.
