My Approach to Helping
I offer mindfulness-based psychotherapy grounded in the understanding that we are all intrinsically whole and connected to the world around us. Through non-judgmental acceptance and awareness of thoughts and emotions, therapy can help us understand the pain we are experiencing, learn new ways of responding, and gain more joy in our lives. I have nearly two decades of experience working with culturally diverse adults and adolescents addressing a range of issues, including: navigating life transitions, relationship issues, parenting challenges, identity discernment, sexual assault trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and school or career discernment. I am a Zen Buddhist priest with Catholic roots. I enjoy integrating therapy with your personal spiritual beliefs and practices, if desired.
In our work together, you can expect radical genuineness, empathy, and - likely - a bit of light-hearted humor, as we foster a relationship of acceptance and trust. I’ll help you find the resources within yourself that you may have forgotten and support you in developing new ways of being that will guide the steps of action in alignment with your inner wisdom.
