What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

The therapy process can be scary and asking for help can be hard. However, asking for help does not mean one is weak or flawed. In fact, asking for help is a super power; especially when many people are stigmatized for saying they need help. The therapy process begins with an intake; this is where the therapist gets to know you and helps you explore your goals for therapy. The intake session is followed by a treatment planning session, this is where your therapy goals are discussed at length, agreed upon, and become the foundation of what you are working on in therapy. The subsequent sessions are designed to allow you to discuss your feeling, emotions, and concerns in a safe space and the therapist will utilize resources, validation, and support to assist you with reaching your goals based on your needs.
