What's My Approach to Therapy?
I am here to support children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am certified as a trauma specialist and a brainspotting practitioner for children, adolescents, and adults. I incorporate a holistic approach, mind-body and spiritual alternative therapies such as meditation groups and meditation and art groups.
I value being compassionate and respecting where people are in their journey and creating a safe space for children, adolescents, and adults. I value, appreciate, and respect the gift of neurodiversity as we are meant to honor and accept our differences. I also believe that we all have a "Healing Intelligence" within, moving us toward healing and growth.
My role is not to "fix" the client or to tell them what's wrong. Instead, I act as a facilitator, helping the client connect with this powerful inner guide within themselves. I trust the client's process and their ability to access this deep knowing that will guide them towards their own well-being.
My Practice & Services
As a registered play therapist, I include sand tray play in my work with all ages. I am also a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist with Integrative Psychiatry Institute and provide Ketamine Assisted Therapy for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, or if you are in your journey of spiritual awakening.
The guiding framework of my work is interpersonal neurobiologyrelational neuroscience, and attachment. I use other approaches such as mindfulness, growth mindset approach, brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems. I also integrate meditation, breathwork, expressive art, and the integration of the therapeutic work of Ketamine Assisted Therapy.
My Role as a Therapist
As a therapist, I deeply believe in and value what's often called a client's Inner Healing Intelligence. This refers to the innate wisdom within them ? a natural capacity the mind and body possess to move towards healing, balance, and wholeness.
It is like a seed; it holds the inherent intelligence to grow and blossom when provided with the right conditions. Similarly, the psyche, given a safe and supportive environment, has the potential to heal and grow in profound ways.
The role is not to "fix" the client or to tell them what's wrong. Instead, my role acts as a facilitator, helping the client connect with this powerful inner guide within themselves. As a therapist I trusts the client's process and their ability to access this deep knowing that will guide them towards their own well-being.
In sessions, the therapist and client will work together to create the conditions that allow the inner healing intelligence to flourish. This might involve exploring thoughts, emotions, and memories with greater clarity, navigating challenging material that surfaces, and ultimately, trusting in the innate capacity for resilience and self-realization.
In essence, the therapist highlights the client's inherent strength and wisdom, and emphasizes that the therapeutic process is a collaborative journey where their own inner resources are central to their healing and growth.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
As a therapist operating from the perspective of inner healing intelligence, my view is grounded in the belief that individuals possess an inherent capacity to heal and move towards wholeness. Instead of viewing mental health conditions as inherent flaws or permanent illnesses, this perspective sees them as manifestations of a disruption or obstruction to this natural healing process. In this view disorders may arise from trauma and adverse experiences, repression and suppression, limiting beliefs and negative self talk, or lack of a place of a safe and supportive environment.
The role of the therapist in this framework is to:
Create a Safe and Nurturing Space: Establishing a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and non-judgment is crucial. This allows the individual to feel safe enough to explore their inner world without fear of further harm or re-traumatization.
Facilitate Access to Inner Healing Intelligence: This can be achieved through various therapeutic approaches that encourage self-reflection, introspection, and processing of emotions and experiences.
Remove Obstacles to Healing: The therapist helps individuals identify and address the factors that are inhibiting their natural healing process, such as trauma, limiting beliefs, or unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Empower the Individual as the Source of Their Own Healing: This perspective emphasizes the client's innate capacity for self-healing and growth, with the therapist serving as a guide or facilitator rather than the sole agent of change.
Foster Integration: Helping individuals integrate fragmented aspects of their experience, including difficult emotions and traumatic memories, allows for greater wholeness and well-being.
Ultimately, this perspective on mental health disorders is one of hope and potential for transformation. It recognizes the individual's inherent resilience and ability to not only recover from challenges but also to experience post-traumatic growth and live a fulfilling life. The goal is to help individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom and unleash their innate capacity for self-healing and self-realization.
