My Approach to Therapy
Hey there! I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families find healing, growth, and lasting change. I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy, from Pepperdine University.
My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and direct. I primarily draw from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and solution-focused therapy, helping clients build practical coping skills, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful, achievable goals. I believe therapy should feel like a collaborative space where you feel heard, challenged, and empowered.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent clients (including those with autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD)), and those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, and major life transitions. I believe every person deserves a therapeutic approach that honors their unique identity, experiences, and strengths, and I tailor treatment to meet each client’s individual needs and goals.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud mom of two young children and a lifelong animal lover. My home is often filled with the joyful chaos of kids and pets, which has deepened my appreciation for the complexities of family life, resilience, and human connection. I bring that same authenticity, compassion, and understanding into my work, creating a space where clients feel safe to be themselves while building the tools they need to thrive.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a difficult life transition, struggling in your relationships, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll work toward creating a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and aligned with what matters most to you.
My Practice & Services
Moonlight Psychotherapy is a fully virtual private practice providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy to individuals, couples, and families throughout California. By offering services exclusively through secure telehealth, clients can access high-quality mental health care from the comfort, privacy, and convenience of their own homes, making therapy more accessible and easier to fit into everyday life.
The name Moonlight Psychotherapy reflects the belief that healing doesn’t only happen when life feels bright. Just as the moon gently illuminates the darkness, therapy can provide guidance, hope, and clarity during life’s most difficult moments. Even in our darkest seasons, there is always light to help us find our way forward. Moonlight serves as a reminder that growth, resilience, and transformation are possible, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.
At Moonlight Psychotherapy, the goal is to create a warm, supportive, and affirming space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, build practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Your Perception is Your Reality
One of the core beliefs that guides my approach to therapy is that your perception is your reality. The way you experience and interpret the world shapes your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. While our perceptions aren’t always objective, they are real to us, and that means the feelings that come from them deserve to be acknowledged, not dismissed.
I believe there is no such thing as a “wrong” feeling. We can’t always control what emotions arise, but we can learn to understand them, respond to them in healthy ways, and choose what we do next. Rather than judging your emotions or telling you how you should feel, I’ll help you explore where those feelings come from, what they may be trying to communicate, and whether the beliefs or interpretations behind them are helping or hurting you.
Therapy isn’t about convincing you that your experience isn’t real. It’s about creating space to validate your emotions while gently exploring new perspectives that may bring greater clarity, healing, and freedom. My goal is to help you honor your feelings without becoming controlled by them, empowering you to respond with intention rather than react from pain.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy provides a safe, supportive space to better understand yourself, navigate life’s challenges, and develop healthier ways of coping. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, stress, or a major life transition, therapy can help you gain insight, build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we’ll work toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
What I love most about being a psychotherapist is having the opportunity to walk alongside people during some of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives. It is an incredible privilege to witness clients discover their strengths, overcome challenges they once thought were impossible, and build lives that feel more meaningful and authentic.
I believe every person has the capacity for growth, even when they can’t yet see it themselves. Being able to provide a safe, supportive space where clients feel truly heard, understood, and accepted is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I enjoy helping people develop practical tools, gain new perspectives, and celebrate the small victories that often lead to lasting change.
No two clients or stories are ever the same, and I value the unique journey each person brings into therapy. Watching someone grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships, and reconnect with hope is what inspires me every day. It is an honor to be part of that process and to support my clients as they create lives that feel healthier, more balanced, and more fulfilling.
My Role as a Therapist
My role isn’t to tell you how to live your life or make decisions for you; it’s to walk alongside you as you discover what feels right for you. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest, challenge unhelpful patterns, build practical skills, and gain insight into yourself. I’ll celebrate your successes, gently challenge you when needed, and help you navigate obstacles with compassion and honesty. Together, we’ll work as a team toward the life you want to create.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
I understand. I totally get it. Taking that first step can feel vulnerable, and asking for help isn’t always easy. As someone who understands that life can be messy and overwhelming, I believe therapy is about giving yourself the space to be supported, gain clarity, and grow. You don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
You’re not alone, and it doesn’t mean therapy isn’t for you. Finding the right therapist is a lot like finding the right pair of shoes: not every fit is the right one. I understand how discouraging it can be to leave therapy feeling unheard or unsupported. My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, respected, and comfortable enough to be yourself. If you’ve been hesitant to try again, I’d be honored to help you rediscover what therapy can truly be.
What Makes up a Problem?
Problems rarely have a single cause. They often develop through a combination of life experiences, relationships, stress, thoughts, emotions, and patterns we’ve learned over time. Together, we’ll look beyond the surface to better understand what’s contributing to your struggles, so we can create meaningful, lasting change rather than simply treating the symptoms.
