What's My Approach to Therapy?
I specialize in trauma therapy for military veterans, first responders, correctional officers, and individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration, offering online therapy. Maybe you served in the military, worked in corrections, responded to emergencies, or spent time navigating systems that required you to stay constantly alert and emotionally guarded. On the outside, you may still function well. You may have carried responsibilities and experiences that most people around you will never fully understand. Maybe you served in the military, worked in corrections, responded to emergencies, or spent time navigating systems that demanded you stay constantly alert and emotionally guarded. On the outside, you may still function well. Inside, you might feel on edge, disconnected, irritable, or unsure who you are when the role you once inhabited no longer defines you. You may be used to pushing through challenges on your own. Many of the people who reach out for trauma therapy have spent years operating in high-stress environments where vulnerability was not an option. Over time, that constant pressure can lead to emotional shutdown, anxiety, difficulty connecting with others, or feeling stuck in a version of yourself that was built for survival rather than living. My role is to help you make sense of what you have been carrying. I also help you reconnect with who you are outside of those roles. I often work with veterans, correctional officers, first responders and people rebuilding their lives after incarceration who are navigating trauma, identity strain and the challenge of redefining themselves after intense life experiences. In our work together, we explore how your past experiences shaped the way you see yourself, your relationships and the world around you. I often use narrative therapy to help you step outside an identity built around a uniform, a job, or a past circumstance. This approach lets you start building a future that aligns with your values. I also integrate practical tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to provide anxiety therapy, support emotional regulation and manage daily stress. My style is direct, relatable and grounded. I believe counseling should be a place where you can speak honestly about difficult experiences without judgment. You can also gain practical strategies to use outside of sessions. Together, we reduce the weight of the past, rebuild a clear sense of identity and create a path forward that feels purposeful and self-directed. If you are ready to stop feeling defined by the roles you have carried and begin building a life on your own terms, therapy can be where that work begins.
