What's My Approach to Therapy?

I work with people often at a crossroads in life. Many times, therapy is the place you figure out where to go next. Sometimes this includes reflection on where you've been and what is most important to you now. I am here to walk that path with you -- in a nonjudgmental and loving way, as you find a more satisfying way to be in the world and with yourself. I also love working with couples and families as they navigate the complexities of being together.

Therapy is most effective when personalized for the deeply unique needs of each client. I employ a relational approach, in which the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a source of trauma healing, growth, and gradual change. I practice from the belief that we are the authors of our own lives — my job is to empower you to write the story you want tell.

If you’re carrying struggles that have been difficult to confront, I can provide a space for you to address your challenges and move toward greater joy and purpose. Reach out for a free phone consultation to learn more about my practice and explore how I can help you or your family.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to open space for meaningful conversation. I work collaboratively. That means we figure things out together - what matters to you, what you want to change, and what actually helps. You're the expert on your life, and my role is to ask good questions, offer perspectives when useful, and support you in ways that fit you.

I also view the therapeutic relationship to be healing in it's own way. That means, the time we spend together can provide healing as we discuss vulnerable topics and are able to enact positive changes together. It's a healing journey that we are on together, built through trust and safety.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

I want to especially address this for couples therapy. Some couples come to therapy with goals for investing in romantic connection, or exploring new ways of working together. Many couples come to therapy at a time of crisis, when the goals or needs of each partner do not feel aligned. Couples therapy is a great place to recognize the individual needs of each partner, and blend how to support one another to honor those goals.
