My Approach to Helping

Do you and your partner fight a lot or avoid talking about things that really matter? Are you grieving the loss of a relationship or feeling hopeless that you will ever find someone to begin with? Perhaps you are hurt, frustrated or angry by your interactions with your adult child or aging parent.

Having healthy, caring connections with others is a key ingredient to living a happy and fulfilling life. When you are in turmoil because of a personal or professional relationship, it can negatively impact the way you feel about yourself and the rest of your life. Understanding yourself, being able to communicate your needs and hear your partner without blaming are keys to experiencing warmth, intimacy and loving in your relationships.

I will work with you to understand the causes of your upset, to heal unhealthy patterns of relating and to learn effective communication skills so that you can create the deeply satisfying relationships you long for. My approach is one of acceptance, gentle guidance and education. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches including Inner Relationship Focusing, Nonviolent Communication, Gestalt, Somatic Therapy and mindfulness. I also bring to my work many years of experience and training as a mediator, conflict resolution and peacemaking circle facilitator.

You deserve to feel better and have good relationships in your life. Asking for help can be hard, but it doesn't mean that you are weak or have failed in any way. As human beings, there are times when we all need to turn to another for support. It takes courage to reach out when you are hurting.

You don't have to do this alone. I am here to help. Please check out my website andor contact me for a free 30 minute phone consultation to see if we are a good match.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love seeing another's face start to glow when they feel deeply understood. I love seeing a fellow human relax when they realize there is nothing within them that is "bad", and it is safe to be themselves. I love sensing a couple open their hearts to each other when they really 'get' where the other is coming from. I love watching another radiate as an old pattern dissolves, and the energy that was once frozen begins to flow. I love being part of the process when another begins to awaken to the unique beauty within them. It is an honor and a privilege to do this kind of work!

At times, it is not easy to be a human being. There have been periods in my own life when I have struggled. As hard as it was, reaching out for help from a skilled psychotherapist was the best gift I could have given myself. It helped me learn to trust and love myself, open my heart and learn better ways of coping. I am passionate about sharing the gift of non judgmental support, compassion, and wisdom that I was given to others who are struggling.
