My Approach to Therapy

I believe the heart of meaningful therapy is a strong, trusting relationship. My goal is to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe, heard, understood, and empowered. Your sessions belong to you, and you are welcome to talk about whatever feels most important in that moment. I am not here to tell you what to do. Instead, I will walk alongside you, offering support, insight, and guidance as you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and discover what feels right for your life. I work with individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, body image concerns, relationship difficulties, caregiver stress, divorce, parenting challenges, and other major life transitions. During our first session, I will ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your personal and family history, current stressors, and what you hope to gain from our work together. It is also an opportunity for you to get to know me, ask questions, and begin building trust at a pace that feels comfortable. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly where to begin. We can start wherever you are, and together, we will create a path forward that honors your experiences, strengths, needs, and goals.

My Practice & Services

I have been practicing since 2009 and hold a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to advanced training and continued professional growth so I can provide thoughtful, effective care tailored to each client’s needs. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, somatic techniques, and strengths-based therapy. I also have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Brainspotting, Play Therapy, and Level 3 Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families. I commonly support individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, body-image concerns, grief, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, caregiver stress, divorce, and major life transitions. I also have experience supporting military families, veterans, and families affected by autism and other developmental or medical needs. Above all, I believe that meaningful therapy begins with trust. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward healing and lasting change.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am especially skilled at helping individuals and couples navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, body-image concerns, relationship difficulties, caregiver stress, parenting challenges, divorce, grief, and major life transitions. I also support military families and parents or caregivers of children with special needs. My goal is to help clients understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, develop healthier coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. One of the most important factors is finding someone with whom you feel a genuine connection and sense of trust. You should feel safe, heard, understood, and free from judgment. It is equally important to choose a therapist who has the training, experience, and specialized expertise to address the concerns you want to work through. The right therapist will help you feel supported and empowered while working collaboratively with you toward your goals.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Therapy typically begins with 60-minute sessions once a week. As you begin to feel better, make progress, and feel more confident managing challenges, we can gradually reduce sessions to every other week or less frequently. The duration and frequency of therapy are always tailored to your individual needs, goals, and comfort level.
