My Approach to Therapy

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad, or stuck? Maybe you are facing a major life change, struggling in a relationship, coping with grief, managing stress, or dealing with health challenges, whether your own or those affecting someone you love. Whatever brings you to therapy, you do not have to face it alone. I provide a warm, supportive space where we can explore your concerns, identify your strengths, and develop practical strategies to help you make changes and feel better. Therapy is not about having all the answers. It is about creating space to understand yourself more fully, make choices that reflect what matters to you, and respond to life’s ups and downs with greater confidence and self-compassion. Many of the people I work with spend so much time caring for others that they have little time or energy left for themselves. Together, we will make sense of what is happening, build on what is already working, and find ways to cope more effectively with life’s challenges. My style is warm, supportive, collaborative, and practical. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help clients identify patterns, clarify priorities, and develop strategies that fit their lives and values. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationship concerns, caregiving challenges, and life transitions.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I enjoy helping people make sense of difficult experiences and discover strengths they may not realize they have. It is a privilege to be invited into people's lives during challenging times and to witness their growth, resilience, and ability to make changes. One of my favorite moments is when a client recognizes a change in themselves that they may not have seen before.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Many people come to therapy after a previous experience that left them feeling unheard, misunderstood, or disappointed. If that has happened to you, I encourage you not to give up on getting support. A good fit between therapist and client matters. Just as importantly, I believe therapy works best when there is open communication about what is helping, what is not, and what you need from the process. I welcome feedback throughout our work together and view therapy as a collaborative relationship. If therapy has not been helpful in the past, I would be interested in learning what did not work for you and what you are hoping for this time around.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Many people hesitate to seek therapy because they think they should be able to handle everything on their own. Everyone faces challenges at some point in life. Reaching out simply means you are paying attention to your well-being and looking for ways to cope more effectively. I believe that seeking help takes courage. Therapy is not about fixing what is wrong with you. It is about understanding yourself more fully, building on your strengths, and finding tools and strategies that support your well-being.
