My Approach to Therapy
My approach to helping is trauma-informed, compassionate, culturally responsive, and client-centered. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, I believe people are more than their symptoms or circumstances, and effective counseling begins with creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood.
I help clients identify patterns that may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors, while also developing practical strategies for meaningful change. I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while incorporating techniques from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) when appropriate.
My goal is not simply to help clients manage problems, but to help them understand themselves, recognize their strengths, build effective coping skills, and move toward the life they want. I meet clients where they are and collaborate with them to identify realistic goals that support lasting growth and wellness.

My Role as a Therapist
As a therapist, my role is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, understand themselves more deeply, and work toward meaningful change.
I see myself as a collaborative partner in the therapeutic process rather than someone who simply provides answers. I help clients identify patterns, recognize strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and make informed decisions about their lives. I meet clients where they are while encouraging them to consider where they want to go.
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based, recognizing that a person's experiences, relationships, culture, environment, and history all influence their emotional well-being.
I also believe therapy should be practical. Along with providing a space for reflection and emotional processing, I help clients develop skills they can apply in their everyday lives to manage anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationships, behavioral concerns, and life transitions.
Ultimately, my role is to walk alongside clients—not to walk the journey for them. I provide professional guidance, perspective, support, and clinical expertise while honoring each client's autonomy and capacity for growth.
My Guiding Ethical Principles
My practice is guided by the principles of integrity, respect, compassion, cultural humility, client autonomy, confidentiality, and professional responsibility. I believe every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and without judgment, regardless of their background, circumstances, or challenges.
I am committed to maintaining clear professional boundaries and protecting the privacy and confidentiality of those I serve. I approach each client as an individual, recognizing that culture, family, life experiences, values, and personal strengths influence how people understand themselves and their world.
I believe in client autonomy and collaborative care. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I work alongside them to identify meaningful goals, explore options, and develop strategies that align with their values and circumstances.
My practice is also grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I strive to create an environment where clients feel psychologically safe, heard, respected, and empowered.
As a clinician and supervisor, I have a responsibility to practice within my professional competence, maintain current knowledge and skills, seek consultation when appropriate, and continually engage in professional growth. Ultimately, my ethical commitment is to do no harm, promote client well-being, honor each person's dignity, and practice with honesty, accountability, and compassion.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
My own life experiences and challenges have shaped the therapist I am today. Navigating difficult seasons has taught me that people are often carrying much more than what is visible on the surface. Those experiences have deepened my empathy and strengthened my ability to sit with people in moments of uncertainty, pain, transition, and vulnerability without judgment.
My struggles have also taught me the importance of resilience, self-reflection, accountability, and personal growth. I understand that healing is rarely linear and that meaningful change takes time. This perspective allows me to meet clients where they are rather than where I think they should be.
As a therapist, I do not believe that having professional knowledge makes me immune to life's challenges. Instead, my experiences have reinforced the importance of humility, continued learning, boundaries, and seeking support when needed. They have helped me appreciate the courage it takes for someone to ask for help.
My experiences have ultimately made me a more compassionate and grounded clinician. They remind me that behind every diagnosis, behavior, or presenting problem is a whole person with a story, strengths, struggles, and the capacity for growth.
I bring that perspective into my work every day: I don't have to have lived your exact experience to honor it, listen to it, and walk alongside you as you navigate it.
