What's My Approach to Therapy?
I strive to approach therapy with radical genuineness, compassion, warmth, and humor. Therapy at its best is a creative, judgment-free space between equals. This creates an environment where you can be yourself and learn to manage thoughts and emotions getting in your way. I like to incorporate techniques from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, anchored relational therapy, body-centered approaches, sports psychology, body positivity, trauma-informed practices, and a dash of geek culture references.
My specializations are in trauma recovery, religious trauma, and life transitions. I have experience working with athletes and fostering self-compassion. I have expertise in working with individuals who are transgender and gender-expansive, as well as the greater LGBTQIA2S+ community. I welcome people of all orientations, genders, and backgrounds.
I have over 12 years of experience working in mental health and recovery environments. I'm confident that we can work together to explore who you are and take steps toward becoming who you want to be. You will not have to go through your experiences alone. I invite anyone to come in for a session and see if we could be a good fit.
