My Approach to Therapy

My approach is client-centered and evidence-based, focusing on building resilience, insight, and healthy coping strategies. I provide a compassionate and collaborative environment for exploring both immediate concerns and long-term growth. Clients can expect to gain greater self-awareness, practical coping strategies, and a clearer understanding of the patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and equipped with tools you can use beyond our sessions—whether to navigate current challenges, build resilience, or foster long-term personal growth.

My Practice & Services

I am Dr. Atma Garcia. While my clinical credentials and state licensure are registered under my birth name, Joseph A. Garcia, Psy.D., those who work with me in this space are invited to address me by my spiritual name, Atma. The foundation of my clinical training ensures that our work, while transpersonal and soulful, remains grounded in safety, ethics, and high-level psychological expertise. I view my professional training as a Dharma: a sacred duty to utilize the psychological means I have been granted to assist others in navigating the suffering inherent in the human experience. Whether you are seeking long-term therapy or a single point of guidance, this is a sanctuary for honest inquiry and profound change. The Work My practice is a sanctuary for those seeking to move beyond symptom management toward the realization of the Self. I provide a space for: Transpersonal Psychotherapy: Integrating the spiritual and psychological aspects of your life. Depth Psychology: Exploring the unconscious and the “why” behind your life’s patterns. End-of-Life Guidance: Specialized support as a death doula for those navigating terminal illness or the sacred threshold of transition. Outside of my clinical practice, I serve as the founding steward of the Atmaguru Forest Hermitage, a private sanctuary dedicated to contemplative practice. For those interested in the spiritual foundations, personal philosophy, and practice that inform my work, you may learn more at atmaguru.org.
