My Approach to Helping

We all have strengths that we can develop, as well as challenges from which we can grow. Each crisis in our lives is an opportunity for healing and growth. As your therapist, I will use a variety of techniques to help you achieve your personal, professional, and spiritual goals. My primary approach is relational psychodynamic, meaning I focus on the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. An interactive, and empathic therapist, I offer advice and support when needed, and I share my own experiences when I think they will be helpful. Though I have extensive, in-depth training, I rely greatly on intuition and humor in my work.

More Info About My Practice

In addition to providing Individual and Couples therapy, I am certified in Psychoanalysis (Contemporary Relational approach), and I provide Professional Consultation to licensed clinicians. I have over 30 years of psychotherapy experience.

I am also a Certified Group Psychotherapist. Group therapy is a wonderful way to develop and improve relationships with significant others, family members, friends, colleagues--and other group members. I currently lead (2) groups:

1. Mixed Group: Open to women, men and persons who are gender-nonconforming, this group explores a broad variety of members' issues in a supportive and gently challenging environment. It meets Thursdays at 5 pm. Adults of all ages and cultures welcome.

2. Men's Group: Open to all self-identified men, this group explore members' issues in a supportive and gently challenging environment. Foci include emotional intimacy and recovery from childhood trauma. The group meets Wednesdays at 12 pm. Adult men of all ages and cultures welcome.

Licensure: I am licensed in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.

My Downtown Bethesda, MD office is accessible via Metro and bus and there is free parking on the premises.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have--I look forward to hearing from you!
