My Approach to Therapy

I work with individuals and couples navigating the parts of life that don't show up in a well-put-together exterior: high-conflict relationships, repair after infidelity, family-of-origin wounds, and the tangle of faith and identity that a lot of people carry quietly. With couples, I lean on the Gottman Method and emotionally focused therapy to get past the latest argument and into the pattern underneath it, including discernment counseling if you're weighing whether to stay or go. With individuals, I work from Internal Family Systems and existential approaches. A diagnosis can be useful. It isn't who you are. My practice is LGBTQ+-affirming, and I work with non-monogamous, polyamorous, and kink-identified clients as part of the practice, not as an exception. I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone or email to talk through what's bringing you to therapy and whether we're a good fit.

My Practice & Services

I offer both in-person sessions at my Dupont Circle office and telehealth throughout D.C. Individual and couple sessions are $250 for 50-minutes; a 90-minute session is $450. I offer a free 15-minute phone or email consultation before your first session, so we can talk through what's bringing you to therapy and whether we're a good fit. I'm private pay and don't accept insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Discernment counseling for couples who aren't sure whether to stay or separate. Repair after infidelity or betrayal. High-conflict communication patterns that repeat no matter how the argument starts. Family-of-origin wounds and intergenerational patterns. The specific tangle of faith, sexuality, and identity, especially for people whose religious tradition made self-acceptance difficult.
