My Approach to Therapy

I am a dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor offering compassionate support to individuals and couples. I have been a psychotherapist for many years. I have both life and professional experience to offer. I strive to create a safe environment for you to explore and successfully address the challenges you face. I specialize to treating depression, anxiety, hopelessness, grief, and communication issues as well as "unfounded emotions". I am a certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Trauma is not necessarily a specific event; it can be the environment you breathe(d). I believe everyone is unique and therapy must meet those unique needs. I help clients to move forward in their lives by using an integrative approach. I draw on trauma specific interventions as well as energy psychology. These techniques can be very effective to help people move through troubling issues and feelings. Talking and relationship building is where therapy starts. I believe everyone is unique and therapy must meet those unique needs. The patient decides what they are comfortable with at any given time. I've worked with a wide variety of clients and have substantial experience supporting people from many backgrounds with a wide range of concerns. I can help you be the person you want to be by helping you see what's in your way. I use cognitive techniques to help clients learn how their thinking affects their feelings and decisions. I also look at family-of-origin relationships to help clients understand what is being repeated in their current relationships, and how to move beyond it. I use trauma-specific interventions to help clients move through distress, as appropriate. These techniques can also help clients change their behavior and beliefs about themselves. I use all of the above to help people find themselves, their value and worth, as well as their life's purpose.

My Practice & Services

I offer teletherapy only. My goal is to improve the quality of life for anyone who comes into my practice, including the LGBTQIA community.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I believe in the change that can be created in therapy. I speak from experience. A therapist can only take a client as far as they have gone themselves. Perhaps this is why my supervisor, way back in the 1980s, asked me, "What is your hurry, Jeri? You really can't be a good therapist until you are in your fifties anyway." He was so right. I did not know the amount of life knowledge I have now, was possible when I was younger. I love sharing that knowledge and I am told by clients that they find my knowledge and take on life inspiring.
