My Approach to Therapy

I am a Psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience, providing a safe environment for clients to explore their feelings. I offer feedback and direction as appropriate. My approach is candid and direct, and I often use humor to bring things into perspective. I strive to create a safe place for you to explore and successfully address the challenges you bring to therapy. I specialize in treating trauma (chronic or recent). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II). Trauma is not necessarily a specific event; it can be the environment you breathed. I also work with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, grief, life transitions, and other concerns. I have extensive experience in the field of trauma and energy psychology, and I have found energy psychology techniques to be very effective in helping clients move through troubling issues, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, and emotional triggers. Many clients don't understand why they react the way they do. This is often what happens when someone has been triggered, feelings from the past get activated by a current situation, outside the client's awareness. I've worked with a wide variety of clients and have substantial experience supporting people from many backgrounds with a wide range of concerns. I can help you be the person you want to be by helping you see what's in your way. I find energy work invaluable for processing issues, but relationship building is where it starts. I use cognitive techniques to help clients learn how their thinking affects their feelings and decisions. I also look at family-of-origin relationships (object relations) to help clients understand what is being repeated in their current relationships, and how to move beyond it. I use trauma-specific interventions (Psych-K, Neuro-Emotional Technique, and Theta healing) to help clients move through distress more quickly, as appropriate. These techniques can also help clients change their behavior and beliefs about themselves. I use all of the above to help people find themselves, their value and worth, as well as their life's purpose.

My Practice & Services

I offer teletherapy only. My goal is to improve the quality of life for anyone who comes into my practice, including the LGBTQIA community.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I have been in psychotherapy for over 30 years in practice and for myself. I believe in the change that can be created in therapy. I speak from experience. A therapist can only take a client as far as they have gone themselves . Perhaps this is why my supervisor, way back in the 1980s, asked me, What is your hurry, Jeri? You really can't be a good therapist until you are in your fifties anyway. He was so right. The amount of life knowledge I have now, I did not know was possible when I was younger. I love sharing that knowledge and I am told by clients that they find my knowledge and take on life inspiring.
